Whoa whoa....what does the Firebird or Camaro have to do with the death of Pontiac?
Im not Anti-Pontiac. GM is giong to can it. Its not MY choice.
And Firebird kicks the Camaro's rear?
Why are Firebird/TA owners so hateful towards to Camaro owners? They are the same car. Brothers in Arms.

Still wrong. White should be stricken from the color pallet of ANY AND ALL cars. White belongs on ONE car...Cop cars.

Doesnt make it right? I cannot stand white. The ONLY car that I actually like in white is the new Malibu in LTZ trim. Friend of mine bought one for his wife, and its really beautiful.

I agree completely. I'm disappointed the Camaro isn't available in white at launch so my order was for a Silver Ice Metallic SS/RS.

Re: SEMA 08: Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe Concept

I believe that white looked OK in the winner's circle on the Chapparals !!!!!!!! Jim Hall would kick your ass !!!!!
BTW, just about all the European supercar makers have used white cars in their displays at European auto shows this year. If you get the Euro Car Mags you will see what I mean. They are tired of all the lame black and silver cars.
When countries were assigned "national racing colors" Germany was ALL white and the USA was white with blue stripes.

Re: SEMA 08: Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe Concept

Almost correct JerryL - the US international racing color scheme is white or blue with a contrasting stripe or stripes. Look at the Cunninghams at LeMans in the early fifties. German cars - silver, Italian - red, French - powder blue, English - British Racing Green.
The Sostice Coupe is a winner. Some won't like it. My advice to them: don't buy one. I have the roadster and would like to have one of each. I won't, of course, my budget is currently just south of GM's.
Cheers,
Ed

Re: SEMA 08: Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe Concept

So is there any official word as to whether or no GM is going to offer the "performance stages" for the Solstice GXP Coupe when it actually comes out? I was oogling all over a Solstice earlier today while picking up some groceries. I want one... with a hard top.

What about the yellow C6-R's?
Funny comment on the budget. I did a little chuckle at work.

There has been a bunch of talk about the stage 2 kits for a while. With the current economic problems, I dunno what is gunna happen to it.
I saw a black one on the parkway today...I just sat back and drooled. That was untill I saw a Vantage.

Re: SEMA 08: Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe Concept

The country colors were used in Grand Prix racing before the cigarette manufacturers got into the sponsorship business. Now the colors are used because of that heritage, not because of any legal or sanctioning requirements.
I'm told (does anyone know the truth of this?) that Ferrarri was once informed that the Italian government would not provide a subsidy for the Scuderia's entries in Formula One. Ferrari protested and announced that he would enter his cars only through his friend Luigi Chinetti's North American Racing Team (NART). The cars would be painted white with two blue racing stripes. The Italian people were so outraged that it led to the fall of that government.
Might be true. Great story either way!

Re: SEMA 08: Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe Concept

I hope they do release the stage 2 thing... because I want more power and a warranty. I think my heart is set on the GXP coupe.
