Re: SEMA 08: Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe Concept

I love this- the car, the specs, even the color scheme. I love that it's quick *and* efficient. I love that it has a hatch with some usable trunk space.

Actually, I would like to see some pricing, options, sales info. This car seemed to disappear after a very nice reception at NYC2008. Why hasn't it enjoyed more press coverage?

Is this car really going to be available for 2009? I see lots of Camaro roll-out promotion, but how many people outside of enthusiast circles even know that there is a Solstice coupe on the way?

Ditto!

A white car shows the lines better than a black one does so long as the photo isn't over exposed. I hate it when a new car comes out and all the press photos and advertisements are of a black car. You can't tell much about the lines.

Re: SEMA 08: Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe Concept

I've seen a Solstice with a AC Cobra style front facia on it, and it really does look just like a Cobra. I'd never thought of it until I saw the picture of it on Solstice forum.

The one BIG complaint I hear about the Solstice (and I agree) is about the nose piece. Looks like crap. The rest of the Solstice is pure artwork.

Re: SEMA 08: Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe Concept

I thought the story was that the Kappa platform wouldn't have a predecessor. That doesn't mean the Solstice/Sky would be canned. It may just mean that they're moving to a shortened Alpha platform to reduce costs.

Re: SEMA 08: Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe Concept

Pontiac brings a specially outfitted Solstice GXP coupe to SEMA. It is equipped with GM Performance Parts’ Stage 2 performance kit and performance air intake kit, which boost horsepower to about 290 (216 kW).

All of us in the Solstice/Sky/Cobalt SS/HHR SS community have been waiting for a year for the Stage 2 kit. It is supposed to be a reflash of the ECM, and two sensors for a little under $1,000 that gives you 290hp and you get to keep your factory warranty. Rumors are that the automatics get 290hp, and 5 speed manuals get 315hp with this upgrade. We have even had the part numbers and found the California CARB info for this, but have been waiting for GM to just release it. Hopefully, this is finally it!

Pontiac as a company is dead. Hard to sell cars for a company that doesnt exist.
G8 models and Solstice will not be going anywhere anytime soon. Not till around 2014.
eh? i'm havin' a bit of a hard time understanding that statement. company doesn't exist, but their cars will be around another 5 years?

interesting I have seen Solstice coupes running around at Milford Proving Grounds and depending on the color they look great (Like the Inferno red paint on the coupe i saw) but no GXP coupes as of yet. As for this concept i like it and imagine what a cobalt SS turbo can do with 290 horses

thanks for the clarification. Hell, the way things are going, there may not be any American car manufacturers left by 2014.

I agree, they should have done it in Black or Midnight Blue without those stripes! It would have looked luxurious instead of sophomoric.

This, the Solistice and G8 will be around for a few more years, they just cancelled plans for any replacements for them. Same with the G6 at this point, with a refresh planned for next year but no solid plans after that.

And for all intents and purposes the Lacrosse being on Ep 2 and being sold in b/p/g dealers most likely isn't a great sign for a G6 redesign in the near future.

Honestly at this point I think GM is waiting to see if the Lacrosse sells as well relatively as the Enclave has, if it really takes off I think you'll probably see Pontiacs phased out in general and BPG being turned into more of a semi-upscale cars (buick) and semi-upscale truck (GMC) dealership.

Re: SEMA 08: Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe Concept

the white/blue on this car is perfect for it. THIS makes me interested in a Solstice, where before as a ragtop I wouldn't even have looked at one.

I doubt alot I hear about products coming from GM. How is it that GM leaks product news at that level soo badly? It leaks worse than a liberty ship hit by an Unterseeboot torpedo.
Take them with a grain of salt.
