SEMA 08: Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe Concept

Solstice GXP Coupe concept

New for 2009 is the Solstice coupe – a sleek, fastback-styled hardtop body style with a removable roof panel. It enables an open-air driving experience yet offers a greater range of all-season driving opportunities.

Like the Solstice roadster, the new coupe model is available in high-performance GXP form, including the 260-horsepower (194 kW) turbocharged 2.0-liter Ecotec engine – a powertrain that uses direct injection technology to deliver up to 28 mpg in EPA-rated highway economy.

Pontiac brings a specially outfitted Solstice GXP coupe to SEMA. It is equipped with GM Performance Parts’ Stage 2 performance kit and performance air intake kit, which boost horsepower to about 290 (216 kW). The car also wears a GM Performance Parts cat-back exhaust system and race-ready suspension kit. It rolls on polished factory wheels.

The exterior is painted Olympic White and features a Hydro Blue racing stripe that may inspire a graphics kit from GM Accessories. Inside, the Solstice features blue accent stitching on its leather-trimmed seats, racing-style pedal covers and a convenient iPod interface for the audio system.

Re: SEMA 08: Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe Concept

So, only two questions remain, will I fit in the car comfortably with my helmet on, and if so, where will the money to purchase one come from?

Re: SEMA 08: Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe Concept

That is one serious case of a non-flowing butt.

Also I think this is the same car that somehow managed to put on weight when tey took off the convertible parts...

Re: SEMA 08: Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe Concept

I want to be as positive about the Soltice as I've always been, but the problem is all I hear in my head when I look at it is discontinued.

Has the Solstice really been canned? When will we see the last of it?

Re: SEMA 08: Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe Concept

neither the g8 or solstice have been officialy discontinued, everything we've heard so far is speculatory. looks good though, i was hoping for a little more aggresive look to the one that they were taking to sema.

Re: SEMA 08: Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe Concept

None of them are canned....well, for now.
Pontiac as a company is dead. Hard to sell cars for a company that doesnt exist.
G8 models and Solstice will not be going anywhere anytime soon. Not till around 2014.

It's really hard for me to look at any American car right now without wondering if it'll be here next year. This is one of the keepers, even if it's not a money-maker.

Baby Viper or Baby Cobra!! Cool stuff. Need to come up with a "snake" name like:

Pontiac Python

Pontiac Fang

Pontiac Venom

Re: SEMA 08: Pontiac Solstice GXP Coupe Concept

I wish GM would stop showing white cars. White does nothing for body lines...nothing.
