It's aimed straight at somebody like me, for whom a 2wd Colorado and a lowly 6000 miles per year will handle the duties I throw at a parts chaser. I ought to be driving a Solstice for these tasks, but I don't dare venture off of tarmac with one. The ST is everything the SSR failed to be. And if they sell 2k-3k per year they will have completed their goal. I still think they could sell a similar or larger amount of sportwagons. In fact they are going to a whole lot of trouble to engineer at least 2 Caddy shooting brakes, so why not bring the Holden wagon over as not only a Pontiac but a Cadillac as well.

As far as coupe goes, the Holden Coupe 60 would satisfy appetities for such vehicles on at least two continents. (why does there not appear to be any mention of this vehicle on this site?)

On a non sequitur note, I still think the V-Rod is the best bike on the street, as sacrilege as it is to suggest to true fans of H-D (I envision desmo9's eyes rolling as he reads this).

Admittedly, I could do without the green-ish paint job.
agreed.Love mine, don't think you could pay me enough to paint it that shade of green though.

Considering that the coupe isn't being built or planned.... The wagon, now that would be some fun. Totally ridiculous, but so are super fast SUVs. If the Magnum SRT didn't have some utility, it wouldn't be worth building.

It looks so sexy as a Chevy. idk why, but I would totally buy this, but wouldn't touch the Pontiac.

Re: SEMA 08: Pontiac G8 ST Concept

im just curious how many people on this board actually buy it. 2 members? 10? 30? not even portion of its projected annual sales so i hope there is alot of folks out there that it can serve practically on a daily basis. in my neck of the woods, this is an enthusiasts niche car.

EXACTLY!!! finally someone gets it. Why do you think these are so popular downunder??? Every tradesman has one, why would a 'yank' tradesman be any different? Do they have bigger toolboxes???

Does anyone know if this was at SEMA? I haven't found any site that published other pictures of the vehicle.

Yes, that car/truck was at SEMA. It got a rather low amount of attention compared to all of the Challengers & Camaros on hand. PickupTrucks.com
Edmunds must have some way to block links to their site. Or the GMI software doesn't like Edmunds. Copy & paste (don't forget the www. infront): edmunds.com/insideline/autoshows/sema/2008/pontiacg8stnews.html

Those are the only sites that I could find quickly that had more photos. I have several friends on other forums that went & got more pics. You can go the the G8Board link in my signature to see their photos.

This Lonestar guy says, exactly.

I hope the ST does well here, and this needs to continue the RWD drive push at Pontiac. I agree though, it sure would be nice to get the rest of the line such as the wagon and the coupe. I'd be willing to trade that for some of the un-Pontiac roots FWD crap still in the Pontiac line up.

I guess I'm just old school, to me anything that has four doors is a family car no matter how much power it has or how well it handles.. Yup I know its irrational, but I like coupes...they are just better looking styling wise. Also I find on four door cars when I go to shoulder check the pillar is always right in your line of sight but that is a fairly minor thing due to the way I set my mirrors up.

So now with this thread info added we can see the following stereotypes as promoted on GMI:

1) 4 door = family car
2) G8 ST = redneck
3) Camaro = mullet
4) Corvette = mid life crisis
5) pickups = redneck
6) SUV = soccer moms
7) small cars = no money

No wonder sales are in the tank...

Well, I do live in Tennessee. And people say they can hear an accent when I talk. But, I won't be hunting in an ST (I don't hunt at all). It wouldn't be bad to take to the creek's edge to go fishing.

How does living in Tennessee make you a redneck??? Its an attitude, not a location and really I think the ST is kinda neat, when I look hard at what I haul in the Sierra I could get by with one and have more power, better mileage and its different too. LS2 is easy to mod for even more power well....

Many jokes are made about people from Southern states (TN being one of them). Sadly, the ST will have a 6.0L V8, but it's not the LS2 (it's the L76 with AFM).
