I'm still having a vision of a Subaru WRX STI and this Raptor ripping across the side of a mountain high-tension line access trail.
I would daily drive it if it had four doors.

I work in Ocean County....and with a bunch of guys that only drive trucks. One who drives a monster F350 King Ranch AND a Bronco that is as far lifted as high as I am tall. And its usually coverd in mud. I did tell him about this truck, he doesnt care much as he goes "mudd'n" not racing over desert.

Where is EllwinX...he's from "the south".

Look at the H1, H2, Excursion, or any other lifted 609'ers truck. Then tell me how you could not seriously see anyone use this as a daily driver. IMO, why would Ford make a truck that you could only use off road? You will see this. And IMO...they will be lifted higher.

I can see the STi...something tells me the Raptor will be some distance behind.

First of all, God bless you for putting up with that.

I see your point, but my only point was this isn't a soccer mom mobile... now, if they made an Expedition Raptor, it'd be another story.

The other issue is that this is an extremely low volume, extremely expensive truck... they're only making a certain number of them, so any Piney who picks one of these up is going to need some pretty deep pockets.

You also assume the Raptor would stay on the trail

Grow up. Yes, it is a silly toy, and that's exactly why it's so damn cool. It's the off-road equivalent of a sports car. Are sports cars necessary? No. Is it dumb to drive a sports car to work every day through traffic. Yes, in the sense that it's a waste of its capability. 99.9% of buyers would go through life just fine with a 4-cylinder wagon, but some people actually enjoy driving and want something more fun. Considering that this site is populated by enthusiasts I didn't think that was news.

Re: SEMA 08: Ford F-150 SVT Raptor unveiled

that grill IMO is dreadful, and BTW hummer wants its design back, this thing looks like a H3T on steroids. I'm not going to lie, i wish GM would make something like this. It would be a lot easier for them too, just take a bunch of **** from hummer and throw it into a silverado. O wait it looks like ford already took that advice

I like it!! Pretty bad ass!! This is going to kill the Silverado/Sierra Z71 off-road package and the Ram TRX4.

Ok if you look at anything that is designed to go off road is going to have that same design of lower bumper...H2, this, almost all.

Re: SEMA 08: Ford F-150 SVT Raptor unveiled

One problem...

I think the pre-runner idea is ok, the IFS would be ok for that but if I wanted to get into some rocks or mud I would be too nervous about blowing up CV shafts.

I'm more of a solid axle front and back person which is why I like the Powerwagon....but dislike the lack of Cummins option.

But still, this is one seriously awesome truck. I'd love to see one in person and see just how much clearance it's got.
