Re: NYIAS: Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8

Re: NYIAS: Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8
quick question....why does jeep need a street performer when they buil "trail rated" vehicles?????
i dont like the new grand cherokee, way too ugly and jeep seems to be forgetting their roots, and this just seems to prove it even more whats next a 4 door sedan??

Besides, center-mounted exhausts seems to still be "the thing" to signify performance nowadays. Still can't exactly call this thing a looker though... |

Re: NYIAS: Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8
I was going to be really upset if no one who called out the TB SS for being a performance SUV also railed on this.

Re: NYIAS: Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8
As a current Jeep owner, Im not a huge fan of the Grand Cherokee anyway, but the new refresh doesnt do much for me. The engine is great though.

Re: NYIAS: Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8
I'm all for anything with over 400hp. I think the rear exhausts are distinctive--at least it's not the single tip like the Trailblazer SS has.
I can't wait for a roadtest comparison between the two.

Re: NYIAS: Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8
I'm wondering who's gonna copy first the center mounted pipes
other than that, the seats in this one look 2000 times better that the ones in gt500! |

Re: NYIAS: Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT-8
I know that Jeep has been owned by Chrysler for close to 20 years now, but I still don't like to think of the association. I prefer to think of Jeep as an independent company yet. I actually liked it a lot better when they were owned by AMC.
So seeing the SRT-8 badge slapped on a Jeep is disappointing. Why even have Jeep if they are just going to be Dodges. Slap the ram horns on the hood and call it a Durango SWB. And the thought of an special ON-road performance Jeep leaves me cold too. As SnafuSS said, it goes against their roots and dilutes the image. It would be the same thing if Hummer ever comes out with some sort of skid-pad demon. It's just wrong. The seats look great, I'll give them that. But the center mounted exhaust seems to preclude the use of a trailer hitch, so there goes a big chunk of utility for me. |
