Re: NYIAS 09: 2010 GMC Terrain

The more I look at the profile for the Terrain it looks like they stole the fenders off an HHR and set them flush with the side panels. Just my opinion. Another case of rebadging similarities

I noticed that too. I like the Fenders on the HHR (the only part of it I don't like is the front). It almost makes me want to wish GM would put a good looking rugged nose on the HHR and give it to GMC instead of Chevy. I don't want two versions of it. that would be rebadgin. This isn't "rebadging" but I hope that's why you put the after saying it. The fender similarities is as much rebadging as the Pilot and the Ridgeline having the same grille. Actually, it's even less so.

I didn't see anything for Saturn. I didn't watch that much, but being so close to the action, it was hard to not see anything. I did watch some of the Final Four. It was good for GM and it was in Detroit, only blocks away from GM HQ and a local team was there until the bitter end. GM and especially Pontiac tedns to be a big sponsor of College Sports for at least a while. As long as I've paid any attention to College Sports, anyway.

so basically you are stating ehat i have been saying along that gm has used design cues from other gm products through out its product lineup. I can understand chevy having a common looking grill for its cars so that we know its a chevy, but to have some chevy looks on the GMC Yukon just smakes me in the face. And the GMC is more expensive. If you bought a Porscha would you expect it to look like a lowy VW? A peoples car?

FORD is not taking any public money and the public has rewarded ford with better car sales then GM. Ford is not ammune from the economy but has done a much better job of seeing down the road in many aspects, including green cars, the first green suv/cuv (Escape) and the ecoboost (twin force) engines. Not to say that gm does not have good green stuff too, but ford say the need before gm and adjusted as needed.

Oh waht, like the Cayanne? It doesn't look anything like the Toureg, huh? And the rear window of the Olds and first gen S-series sedan do look alike. Saturn took some other design cues from Olds (the no grille front end, etc) that's been documented. The GMC and Chevy comparisons are pointless. We all know. They share a lot. Less than they used to, though. Your others are rediculous and base-less. The Terrain takes as many SRX cues as the CTS takes from Acura..which is none, but I'm sure you'll draw up some stupid picture on how the headlights are 90 degrees different and the grilles both have chrome and both have 4 wheels, because the empty can rattles the most.

Well I thought I should debunk your VW/Porsche statements and how they look alike. They look nothing alike at all. One might say in the same way a Chevy does not look like a Hummer....

Looks to me like they share windsheilds and doors. The rear window might not be the same, but way it has a rear haunch is (you can't see it on the Touareg in your picture). They're practically identical with different noses and headlights. Nice "People's Porche" there.

+1.

This thread sucks. Someone ban the two trolls so we can get back to discussing the damn car instead of what car looks like this car and how my goldfish looks similar to a shark or whatever the hell.

oh so how a car looks has no bearing what so eveer? What if gm designed a car like the homer simpson car? would you say the design did not matter? what if the gmc had those olf tail fins on it? I have noticed that some people called the new gmc ugly on this very thread, yet you dont attack them. So i guess if someone points to some things they dont like, you then think they are trolls. Well a troll is a fictional being from the middle ages. Trolls do not exist, just people with their own opinions.

I don't mind people calling the car ugly. What I do mind is people making completely unfounded arguments about how it looks the same as a last-gen SRX, repeating themselves over and over again, and then going farther to turn the entire thread into an argument over which car looks like what.

Whatever random similarities you see between this car and the SRX are nothing more than coincidences.

By the way, you just totally contradicted yourself...

And yes, forum trolls do indeed exist...just look in a mirror...
