Re: NYIAS 08 Preview: 2009 Acura TSX

Speaking Malibu, I finally saw one up close (before only driving by). It was a deep blue LTZ with the coco-cashmere and wood trimming...Same for the leather seats with the two-tone inserts. All I can say is WOW that car is weel honed, with a quality built interior. Much better than the interior photos we always see. Really looked like a luxury car. Very nice detailing in materials and design, something only noticed when you are up close to it in person.

The Euro Accord grill looks better.

They should bring over the wagon too!

Re: NYIAS 08 Preview: 2009 Acura TSX

Folks the new TSX is very nice and I am sure the new TL will be gorgeous. The outside is hot and I am sure the interior will be just as nice. I am a GM fan and a American car company fan and will only buy a GM or Ford car or truck. However, Honda and Acuras seem to be well crafted inside and out and you are able to get 5 to 6 speed auto in every car in addition to a Navigation screen unlike most GM cars. I bet the 09 TSX offers everything and sells well. While I think the TSX and the TL are hot cars, I think the RL is just ok and you can see by sales.

I am a GM fan but lets face it, here are the only GM cars (non-crossovers) that are competitive right now. See below
Cadillac STS - The dash could be a little nicer (bring over SLS from China) but the rest of the car is terrific.
Cadillac CTS
Saturn Aura
Chevrolet Malibu
Pontiac G8
Saturn Astra

However, 4 of the 6 do not offer Navigation screens. Folks its the work of the cost cutters or someone asleep at the wheel.

The cars below need MCE's (mostly interiors) or need to be redesigned.
Chevrolet Impala - Needs inerior refresh including 6 speed auto and 3.6.
Chevrolet Cobalt -(The SS doesn't change this because the regular cars still only offer a 4 speed auto and needs interio modifications
Pontiac G5- Get rid of this car and only keep the Cobalt and Astra.
Pontiac G6 - Not as refined as Aura or Malibu. Needs interior mod including new center stack.
Buick Lacrosse - Getting new car, bring it sooner
Buick Lucerne - We here there will be a MCE for 2009, tell us about it GM
Cadillac DTS - Same as Lucerne
Pontiac Grand Prix - Will be dropped, thank god !!!!!

Cone on GM !!!!

Just terrible.

Acura has no image no philosophy, terrible styling, and outdated drivetrains and technology.

Probably the worst managed brand on the Market.

It's a yawner, though it could be decent if they drop the 2.4 turbo out of the CRV rebadge into it.

Re: NYIAS 08 Preview: 2009 Acura TSX

Have you looked at the interiors of new Hondas/ Acuras? They lack any sense of inspiration. And I do not find them that well designed, especially the Civic and Accord.

At one point they were better crafted than American cars (even if a lot their design work was done in the U.S., which would make them "American cars")...But go take a look at the new models and compare them to the new CTS and Malibu. You will be that surprised. I just saw an LTZ Malibu and the interior was spot on. Couldn't honestly say that for the Accord or Civic with their way too busy dashes and grey plastics.

Re: NYIAS 08 Preview: 2009 Acura TSX

FWD + bland styling = double boring. Add a turbo and SH-AWD to the TSX and then they've got something.

Really, the only thing the TSX had going for it was the toys - navigation, bluetooth, etc. However, most of these things can be had on lesser-priced vehicles now (except those from GM, of course!). The snappy manual transmission was also a plus and I would hope that it's still got that.

A lot of my tech buddies had Acuras (the 3rd generation Integra was a solid car for its time). They've since switched to other makes - Lexus, BMW, and Mini to be exact. Not one of them has bought another one for one reason or another.
