Re: NYIAS 08: 2010 Pontiac G8 Sport Truck
I really love it!! It is cool!! But, somehow it doesn't come off as a Pontiac. It looks like it should be a Chevrolet. I know i'm not the first guy to say this. Chevrolet has missed an oppurtunity for an El Camino SS. The product placement on this truck is horrible. Pontiac is not supposed to have suv's or even minivan's anymore. Pontiac is to be a "car only" brand. They could have it made it a GMC, but that would confuse buyers even more.

Re: NYIAS 08: 2010 Pontiac G8 Sport Truck
If it bears the name of El Camino, or Ute, I'll be pissed. "El Camino" should be left where it is, much like "GTO", especially since this is a PONTIAC! And Ute isn't exactly a strongly established word on this half of the world. G8 ST is perfect to me.

I've never liked El Caminos. I've always thought they were ugly and this vehicle is no different. I'll stick to the 4 door G8 as far as preference goes.

Re: NYIAS 08: 2010 Pontiac G8 Sport Truck
I kinda like Pontiac G8 Phoenix... not that I get a vote though.
I don't think they should use El Camino, just for the simple reason that it limits the options GM would have if this car really takes off.

Re: NYIAS 08: 2010 Pontiac G8 Sport Truck
I just voted and called it Ute.
There's a guy at work who has a very clean El Camino. When he drives it to work and I walk by where it's parked with someone I point at it and say "Ute". Now there's a bunch of people where I work who know what a Ute is.

Yea we get this crap but we can't have a Trans Am which will set GM to the roof with Muscle Car sales, unbelievable I hope it flops!

I don't get it.
Does GM think someone might actually buy one of these?

I agree. If It can tow a Boat, a T@B, or a T@DA, Then this has my attention. As much as I like the GMT-900's, I would not personally own one. This Pontiac Ute I could own. This is being marketed for the "I would not get caught in a BOF truck if my life depended on it" crowd. The Ute has plenty of style and hopefully towing ability + that local trip to the Home Depot. Re: NYIAS 08: 2010 Pontiac G8 Sport Truck
Reading this thread, the one thing we can all agree on is this vehicle is polarizing. You either love it or really don't like it. I think this has a good chance of being a hit with the young tuner crowd. Kids that otherwise wouldn't be in a GM vehicle. Especially if they use some of the loud Holden colors. It would make more sense as a GMC but its clear that GM was looking to invest minimally to bring it here. How about we all relax and see what happens and not hate on this to the point that potential customers pass on it.
