Re: 2010 Pontiac G8 Sport Truck Uncovered!

voted on the name as well called it the Pontiac Flextreme ST to emphasize its its cargo hauling capabilities and its sporty nature. Hopefully the name that they pick will be good. And Yikes on the interior photo of it GM could've at least vacuumed the interior before they did the photo shoot

I hope it will do well in NA. It can do what most of us need to do with a truck, it will handle better and get better fuel economy. But we like our trucks bigs and tall with traditional look.

Re: 2010 Pontiac G8 Sport Truck Uncovered!

Will it have AWD?? I'm sure the rear end of this is very light. A little help from the front wheels will be necessary to get around some sloppy winters here.

Like the Ford Super Duty which looks like the result of mixing a F 350 with a semi truck. I hope the Ute does well But i just don't see it doing well in a segment that is dominated by full sized truck sales. however I'd buy one if given the chance

It's hot, now name it the Firebird Sport Truck! This way the name resurrects, and this forum has something new to fight about!

Exactly.... "people have been clamoring for the return of the El Camino"????

Really GM????? Really??????

You are honestly going to sit there with a straight face and give us a car that has no prior market force in the last 21 years and NOT give us a Firebird that could easily be adapted to the Camaro that will be coming out in a year or so?

Last time I checked, the predominate view of the El Camino was that it never did either thing good. It wasn't good as a car and it wasn't to the level of a pick up truck.

Get over yourselves GM. "Global" only works for architecture, not for style or usage. What works in the Land of Oz doesn't mean it is going to work over here. Otherwise all those little shoeboxes they call cars in England would be driven over here.

While it is nice that GM is putting some performance back into Pontiac, this is just not the right way to be doing it.

Re: 2010 Pontiac G8 Sport Truck Uncovered!

Making it a Pontiac was just a supremely dumb move. The media is comparing the G8 to BMW sport sedans, as GM seemed to have wanted. And then they belittle the G8 franchise with a truck version? But hey, maybe BMW will follow suit with a 3-series pickup.

For all the millions of dollars GM spends needlessly at times to change fascias (even changing the Monaro's to a Grand-Prix look for the GTO was unnecessary), they couldn't slap a GMC or Chevy front end on this one and keep the truck true to some heritage? GMC is sharing showroom space with Pontiac .. a GMC Cabellero would have been a perfect way to link the brands without muddling up Pontiac's theme. They'll sell fewer G8s and fewer of the truck because they made the truck a Pontiac. Dumb.

GM's still not playing with a full deck, that much is clear.

No one will buy it, and it'll just make Pontiac look even worse.

Re: 2010 Pontiac G8 Sport Truck Uncovered!

They should call this thing Pontiac Phenix. Like the bird that rises from the ashes. Ties in with the Trans Am bird and its the car that rose from the ashes. (ie El Camino)

Re: 2010 Pontiac G8 Sport Truck Uncovered!

If they put it on the showroom floor, I will buy it -- will be a perfect replacement for my Colorado.

I don't really care what they call it, but I suggested Ventura -- to tie together the whole Tempest-GTO-Ventura history.

But then you would have the G8 ST GT unless the 6.0 is standard.
