Not sure if anyone has mentioned this yet, but a nickname for utes in Oz is "uterus". Yeah, I've decided, let's all vote uterus.

Man I just pretended to be American. I Googled Melbourne Florida zipcode and the phone for their police and changed the last few digits.

This is the biggest waste of money I've ever seen GM + Pontiac do, I mean besides the Torrent GXP, G5, All the Grand Prix Special Editions, Aztek. We do no need this vehicle. Period.

Wooo I admit I laughed a bit at that!

It's a trar or cuck or something but it'd better haul both kinds of a$$ to work here. The winning name is ..

The first Pontiac G8 1/2-ton Sport Hauler. Or Gr8SH.t for short.

Cheers...

Re: NYIAS 08: 2010 Pontiac G8 Sport Truck

According to the initial press release, they are pulling an SSR with this -- automatic only. So, I filled out the "comment" thingy on Pontiac.com, and this is the response I got:

Quote:
At this time, Pontiac has made no official announcement about offering a manual transmission for the 2010 G8 Sport Truck. We have documented your interest and will forward your comments to the appropriate department so they may have an effect on future models.
I'm very disappointed. They have until mid-2010 to rectify this, or I'll be looking at a Z28 Convertible.

This is a vehicle I would be really interested in but only if it's offered in a stick. I will not own automatics.

Do you really think that GM would allow this to be called El Camino? Also, if thousands of people vote for El Camino, do you think that would tip them off that this should be a Chevy and GM would change it over? I think a open back version of you Chevelle concept would be cool, but even if they just slapped a bowtie on the ute I would be happy.

Agreed

I have all ways wanted an El Camino but looking at the pics @
http://www.evolutionendshere.com.au it just dose not look right with the center counsel.

I hope that the bench would be an option, I just could not justify spending that much money on a daily driver that I couldn't at least cram my family in if I had to.

Re: NYIAS 08: 2010 Pontiac G8 Sport Truck

Commander and Alpha are already taken by Jeep and Hummer. Those are perfect for a 400 horsepower truck.

As far as animals....Goat (I don't think everyone will get it) is okay for a truck. I also think that the Aussie Toyota Highlander name, Kluger, is a cool word for a truck (or a weapon).

Since Pontiac is an indian name, then let's go with Apache or something.

I think El Camino would be a great name for this truck if it were a Chevy...the marketing will be covered by the name of the vehicle (unlike SSR, which sounds like a sports package to some other Chevrolet).
