I'm with you. I've been next to a real live Genesis at a gas station and I was blown away at how nice it was. This is probably a hell of a lot nicer. Some people don't understand that liking more than one manufacturer is ok.

Re: NYIAS 08: 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe

i want to like this car so badly, BUT, the front end although similar to the concept has been over tweeked to the point of looking...odd. maybe it's the wsy the headlights seem to be frowning, or the slightly off putting grill arangement. oh well, hopefully it;ll take a big hit in depreciation and i can get a 4 cylinder turbo cheap so i can drift! heck, a v6 would fit the bill too!

i still think this will sell well and with good after market support, end up getting some respect on the street. Hyundai, FIX the front end so it looks more like the concept! stop messing up great designs!! sheesh, you'd think it's a no brainer to leave as much of a good concept car alone as possible!

Re: NYIAS 08: 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe

Just out of interest I had a look at the Concept and I believe that they have not changed it hardly at all. The under bumper grille is less bold but the rest is the same.

What they have done is not add the black bonnet/hood paint and have changed the dark headlights to bright chrome, and of course the silver is bland next to the orange of the concept. These changes make it’s shape look different but it is not. They also lifted the front suspension and put smaller wheels on it.

So I undid all that; adding back the bigger wheels, dropped the front and darkened the lights and bonnet/hood.

Such an easy package upgrade with the more aggressive under bumper grille may appear as a GT V8 version later.

Re: NYIAS 08: 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe

I'm one of the people that likes it for some reason! The front end is a bit weird but the pictures of the car in red look pretty good. It'll be an affordable RWD coupe, it may find itself more then a few buyers (not me) but that's beside the point.

I think it is a great looking car. The only thing I don't like is that dip in the rear glass

Not bad.

By any chance, is this going to be the Tiburon replacement??

I'm not sure, it doesn't make a lot of sense to have both unless they really reposition the Tiburon or make sure it's starting price is far below the Genesis Coupe's.

The Tiburon is supposed to stay below the Genesis and remain FWD. I agree with MonaroSS with the fact that this car reamins almost exactly like the concept. Even the radical orange concept looks virtually identical besides the ridiculous carbon fiber hood that we new wasn't going to make it. I like pretty much everything about this car besides the front end. I think if the upper and lower part of the front bumper where connected in the middle it wouldn't look so squished. I think this car shows in pictures much smaller than it really is which bodes well since it will most likely be one of those cars that looks much better in person.

Re: NYIAS 08: 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe

What a shame! I had high hopes after seeing the Concept, but this thing is just awkward. Like "tripping over and grabbing the judges boob" awkward. It's kind of okay because of the circumstances, but you don't know where to look and chances are wouldn't do it again deliberately.

Re: NYIAS 08: 2010 Hyundai Genesis Coupe

Look they can put in curves on the side panels that look like twists - a pure example of showing what they can do without regard for styling. Ugly as sin, as usual from Hyundai. Still it will be a value proposition for some. I would expect it to sell about as well as the Tiberon.

For people who don't like the rear side window shape or the headlight shape or the unresolved side crease or the lower grille shape, here are the fixes that you want to see.

See how much better it looks when the top and bottom bumper are connected.

It looks like a "designer imposter" version of a G37, you know designer imposters, the people that sell you cologones like "Calvin Clein" and "Nautic", almost there, but NO, and people who dont know any better might think that its "ok", but people with taste will know that it's a phony.
