Did they seriously show someone getting a ticket in that commercial?

Re: NYIAS 08: 2009 Pontiac Solstice Coupe

I think they really need to make the Solstice have the same kind of lines that the G8 has, ie more muscular. Ditch the round curves and give Chevy a version like that. If we can't have the Firebird, have the Solstice like a little Trans Am as the Sky mimics the Vette.

Re: NYIAS 08: 2009 Pontiac Solstice Coupe

Well, got to walk around and sit in this beautiful car, and let me tell you in person this car looks like it was built to be a coupe.
The rear trunk area is BEAUITFUL!! The compound curvature of the trunk, the intergrated spoiler, its NOT a GM looking trunk. Like I stated prior, it looks a lot like the back end of the Z4 M coupe.
I will have a full GMI Preview asap along with several other write ups from NYIAS!

Are you seriously comparing the Solstice and a Porche...Yeah I think that is really fair. There is only a little cost difference between the two of them

I've been on this rant for a long time. Its little things that kill me with GM. At nearly 6'4", I can get in and sit, but I can't turn the wheel because my leg is bent up so that there's no space to get my hand on the wheel and my bent up leg in the same spot between the dash and the wheel. Either giving the car more upward tilt or tilt and telescopic would go a looong way to relieving that. As it is, I can't even consider buying the car.

I love that hardtop it looks good, but I expected more room in the back as a hardtop. I wish they could of added a power top though.

$30,000

commercial on retro-junk shot in Toronto. Sam the Record Man signs! Ha, ha! Not that it really matters.

I remember that commercial and a similar one a few year later. Great jingle. So 80s! The Grand Am was way cool at the time.

They should export the solstice down here as a holden, coupe and convertible both.

Re: NYIAS 08: 2009 Pontiac Solstice Coupe

It's ok, I would rather have a fixed top coupe.

I think it's kind of ridiculous to make a convert and targa only. Leaves out those who prefer a fixed top.

Umm..... it will still handle differently as its not a fixed roof. True coupes handle much better than their convertible counterparts. That's what he was talking about. Talk about genius.........

I agree Odin, but our friends don't build a RHD version.
I think the Solstii would cost too much if Holden subbied the conversions out to HSV, Elfin or Walkinshaw.

BTW I'd love a real coupe version. Elfin should hit that slot, different price point though - that would be a Elise competitor.

Re: NYIAS 08: 2009 Pontiac Solstice Coupe

I really like it a lot, I wish that they originally offered the Solstice as a coupe. Even though the trunk is still small, you can actually put a few grocery bags or maybe a small overnight bag if you need to. I'll definitely consider this for my next vehicle.
