Honda plans to unveil a subcompact car-based SUV -- smaller than the CR-V crossover -- at the Detroit auto show in January.

Given that Honda plans to build a Fit-based crossover from its Mexico plant in 2014, this concept likely will preview what that vehicle will resemble.

In a release, Honda said the vehicle "is a global concept model combining a sporty and dynamic SUV profile with a spacious, functional interior."

Honda declined to give further details.

THIS! I think the Encore is a great idea, just wish they offered a Chevy Gamma CUV, but I know the Theta Equinox is moving to Delta, but there is still room.

I keep looking at pictures of the Buick Encore and while it looks nice and classy, I still wish they offered a more rugged Chevy or GMC version. I really want to get a compact SUV with good MPG and currently there are only three in America, the Buick Encore, the Mini Countryman, and Nissan Juke. If the Trax came to America, I would be so happy.

The picture shown looks nice (not sure if it is actually a teaser shot or something else). But we know whatever Honda actually produces wont look nice like it's concept car.

It looks nice. Those wha are calling it a Traxx competitor should look closely. It looks like it fits Acura's design language more than lower tier Honda's.

Its called the Accord Coupe, and unlike the Prelude, you can get it with a V-6, a stout one at that.

GM needs to have the Trax. Simple as that. They could of been the first in this super small segment at this price in a long time but nope.
