A fresh set of images and additional details, including the name of VW's new Detroit motor show-bound CrossBlue SUV Concept, surfaced on the internet today.
Volkswagen developed the CrossBlue specifically for the U.S. and Canada to preview an upcoming model designed to slot between the smaller Tiguan and the more luxurious and pricier Touareg SUVs.

The study was built around Volkswagen's new Modular Transverse Matrix (MQB) and measures 196.3 inches (4,986mm) long, 79.3 inches (2,014mm) wide, and 68.2 inches (1,732mm) high. It aims to compete with SUVs like the latest generation Ford Explorer.

While the concept features six individual seats in three rows (2+2+2), the German company says the production model would offer the option of a seven-seat layout with a three-seat bench in the middle row.

So it looks like a more chunky Q7. or a Grand Cherokee trying to be an Audi.

Which is what the Jetta and Passat look like. Last generation Audi's but more chunky and simplified.

Is this what VW's have become? The previous same-size Audi with more squared-off lines and simplified surfaces.

TDI hybrid system with electric all-wheel drive sounds very interesting. I would consider getting this SUV based solely on that powertrain configuration.

I like the 6 seat option. Overall I knew it looked fimiliar, and maybe the GC is what I was thinking of, but I think it looks decent. Nothing exciting, but VW has been selling the Jetta and Passat without 'exciting' so it will probably work for them.

Form what I see, I would say it looks pretty good. It looks to me to be about the same size as the Touareg. I have to wonder if it's a similar size SUV how wouldn't steel sales from the Touareg.
I would like to see them bring their pickup to the states. If a 3rd SUV can make a valid business case for the US market, I don't understand why their pickup wouldn't work here as well.

You beat me to it!! The silhouette is clearly cribbed from the Grand Cherokee....not even the current version, but the previous model. And, it appears they stole those headlights from Chevy. Couple this milk toast styling with VW's "legendary" quality and you have a disaster waiting to happen. The GMC Acadia should have nothing to worry about...
