NAIAS 2013: 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Facelift

2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Brings New Looks, Diesel Option and 8-Speed Auto
    JANUARY 13, 2013
    Carscoop

Good news for those of you who felt itchy about waiting until the Detroit auto show to open its doors to the press on Monday to learn about the 2014 Grand Cherokee, as a comprehensive image gallery along with the first info on the refreshed Jeep model were shared on the internet today.

In its current form, the Grand Cherokee has only been in the market since summer of 2010 (as a 2011 model in North America) or about two and-a-half years, yet the facelift brings notable changes to the mid-size model beginning with its appearance.

The front end of the Jeep has been redesigned and now sports newly shaped headlamps similar in styling to those of the latest Chrysler 300 and a less flashy seven-slot grille along with a new bumper.

At the back, we find a new set of LED tail lamps and a redesigned tail gate and bumper that help give the Grand Cherokee a little bit more character on this end.

I prefer the old front end.

    What's with the cut-the-headlight-and-fill-it-with-plastic look?

Agreed. Buick is putting the same awkward looking detail on the Encore, which I thought was because they are reusing the lamps from a Saturn or similar car.

Will the 8 spd auto be available with the Hemi? Why isn't that tranny offered with the Hemis in the Challenger, Charger, and 300?? It's available on the Ram V8!

Re: NAIAS 2013: 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Facelift

I like it! Almost looks worth upgrading my 2011. The 8 speed has got to be an improvement over the old MB 5 speed behind the V6 and SRT and the 4/5/6/Multi-speed behind the Hemi.

Not overly fond of the headlights but it seems to be a popular fad. Ford has it on the new Escpae, Toyota has it on the Tacoma, GM has it on the Encore and Acadia, and now Chrysler is doing it. Chrysler did hide the headlamp washers in there though.

WAYYYY too much dead space in the front. Headlights are too small. Looks like someone stretched it out.

Not a fan of the new face. Looks like they just plopped a different grille assembly into an opening.

The headlights and the surrounding area kind of muck up the rest of the front end. Otherwise it looks good.
