It was said to have replaced the Solara which will go out production by the time this beached whale arrives on US shores. I believe when they said replaced they just meant this will be built in place of the Solara at the Camry plant as they all ride on the same platform. To me it looks like nothing more than a tall Camry wagon which is essentially what it is.

Re: NAIAS: 09 Toyota Venza

They gave ratings for the 6 cylinder engine, but none for the 4. What is the deal??

Re: NAIAS: 09 Toyota Venza

Ratings are out for th 3.5l engine, since it's the same engine as in the Camry, Avalon, Rav4, Highlander, Lexuses, etc....

the 2.7 is a new engine (or a reworked version of their 2.4l).

As for style, I don't find it offensive. It follows Toyota's current them. I don't like the bulging Toyota logo nose, and the grille is a little over complicated, but overall, there's nothing that offensive about it. I see a Lexus RX roof, Ford Edge front End, Ford Mondeo taillights, and Camry doors.

Re: NAIAS: 09 Toyota Venza

Copying Ford, all Toyota has ever done is copy other automakers. This thing is so ugly, the front looks like it was designed in Japan and the back was from Tim-buc-too, the whole thing is dis-com-bob-u-lated.

Gross, but I guess Toyota owners have never really cared about styling anyway.

Re: NAIAS: 09 Toyota Venza

The only thing I don't like is the grille. It is way to complicated and busy looking.

Y'know, that one website that put a Toyota badge on an image of an AMC Eagle wagon weren't too far off...

No, cause we're better off with three or four GM brands in each segment.

Re: NAIAS: 09 Toyota Venza

This thing is pretty nasty. But it's not the design that gives me a bad taste in my mouth. It's the fact that Toyota has a green image, but now has more trucks and SUVs than cars...

Re: NAIAS: 09 Toyota Venza

The Toyota Tedge? That looks like a bad Hyundai attempt at copying another brand. The Nissan Rogue is far better looking. The Ford Edge looks great in person.

Can't blame them for throwing more dollars to get another foothold in this segment.
