Better that than trying (and failing) to exude the same 'tall coupe' aura as the BMW X6 IMO, which is what the Venza's sloped roofline and blistered fenders do for me.

That said, Toyota can drop the Sport models from the Highlander and RAV4 lineup because if the Venza has any trumps over them, it's that it's far better suited to pretending to be a sports car. . .

That is pathetic and ugly and whats worse, is this is the marketplace for it.

No ****.........

Check out the Geneva thread highlighting the upcoming EU Accord Sedan & Wagon....

If one of these 'vaunted' brands would stop pushing these shapely turds on us and design a slick, sexy looking wagon like Honda did.......and actually bring said wagons over here.....perhaps that would inspire other makers to do the same, thus establishing and/or cementing the 'sportwagon' market and returning some sanity to our showrooms and streets.

not only sexy looking wagons but also, some 2 door coupes and hardtops (but for safety reasons about the hardtops, it'll remain a pipe-dream ). The next main challenge is how to give a less girly image to the convertible, there was an era where the convertible didn't had that image....

Re: NAIAS: 09 Toyota Venza

But didn't a leading light at GM say wagons don't sell in the US, gosh guess Toyota are going to loose huge money on this one. Now either the person that commented at GM is nuts OR another sucessful car maker is about to make a blunder.

All I can say is for crying out loud send the Sportwagon to NA (hell make it there!) as well as the "Coupe60" sell it in Aus Middle East China & NA- how could you NOT make money!!!

The Venza is a crossover, not a wagon. Proper wagons fail in the U.S., crossovers are hot.

Exactly what I thought. Toyota is not the kind of company to say "That Ford Edge looks decent, let's make our own." No, Toyota has the resources to make a good crossover and planned it over a long time. I agree with you.
You think anyone actually reads posts that try to explain stuff especially in a Toyota thread?

Dont you know that Toyota bash mode is automatically enabled, and all rational posts of explinations get ignored amidst the waves of "Its ugly, it sucks, its ugly, hahah Toyota will fail"?

It looks fantastic from the fender on back, but who in their right mind thought that nose was ok?

Did Subaru fire their B9 Tribeca designer and ship him off to Toyota?

Why yes, that was part of the deal when Yota bought into Subaru...

You didn't know that?

Re: NAIAS: 09 Toyota Venza

This "crossover" ties with the dodge journey for the "What Should Never Sell, but Will" Award. Last year's winner was the freestyle/taurus X. Anyone who buys one of these should save their money and ride the bus. Automobiles are for those of us who look at cars as more than appliances. I guess they couldn't trademark the names "boring" or "yawn".
