Regardless of how Toyota got so successful, its designers had little to do with that.
Doesn't leave much for me to say.

Gee, thanks guys.

Re: NAIAS 08: Toyota A-Bat

I can imagine how something like this started out. Perhaps kinda like this:

Herb Powell: I want you to help me design a car. A car for all the Homer Simpsons out there, and I want to pay you $200,000 a year!

Homer: And I want to let you!

Is it just me or does the front grill look like a bow tie?

Metro-men rejoice another flower pot hauler is on the scene. Tail gate looks like it belongs on a mitsu. A-BAT??? Is that short for A Batch of Crap?

Interior...Triple Axle Hurl!

Holy.............................................. .......................................
I'm speechless. I thought the Ridgeline was bad. I think if I look up the word "horrible" in the dictionary, this thing will come up as a reference.
And I'm sure that we all know by now that the tailgate will crack, the camshaft will fail, and the transmission will fall off this so-called "truck."
AND WHAT ON GOD'S GREEN EARTH IS AN A-BAT?!!

Wait wait wait...
Did I read that correctly? This thing is smaller than a Tacoma? Is that possible?
It looks fatter than Michael Moore. There's no way in hell it's smaller than a Tacoma!

I don't know. After I saw the profile, I was too afraid to look at the rest of the pictures.

Re: NAIAS 08: Toyota A-Bat

That is definately fugly, but they are on the right path. There is no reason a little pickup can't get close 35mpg with a small diesel. I think this has gone overboard, turning a RAV4 into a pickup. As for the Ridgeline, it seems to have less size, power, comparable mpg than the Silverado; so a unibody pickup is not a gas saver. But toyoda is on the right path, we need little pickups for guys and commuters that drive by themselves 99% of the time.

I really would like to see GM consider making the Colorado a little bigger and bringing in the little pickup from Brazil to slot below it.

Re: NAIAS 08: Toyota A-Bat

well, if it shares the bent frames of the FJ, the schrapnel motor, bed bounce, foil tailgates, and destructo trans of the turdra, the fall apart latches for doors off the sienna, the self destructing steering of the avalon, and sludgeomatic mill of well, so many toyotas, then yes, toyota will have another winner on its hands.

Only if Consumer Reports recommends it, and you know they will.
