This is not replacing the HUMVEE. It is a concept for the commercial market, not for the military.

Of course, GM could be using this as a test mule of sorts for the GMT355 replacement, since it the I-6 Atlas engine will die off soon, no doubt to be followed by the much hated I-5.

Like all HUMMER production models, the HX has sturdy, body-on-frame construction, onto which is mounted front and rear independent suspensions.
So that leaves a few options.

1. This is on GMT 355.
2. This is on GMT 360.
3. This is a new platform or the replacement for GMT 355.

I doubt it is on GMT 360 since most of the vehicles on that platform are being phased out. GMT 355 or its replacement seems to make a little more sense. Then again it could be something totally different but I find that unlikely (the business case for a small volume, one off platform wouldn't be there).

I believe its off the 355, or a modified version of that. The GMT 355 is what underpins the H3, correct? I don't believe that GM designed a totally new platform just for the Hummer brand.

Re: NAIAS 08: HUMMER HX Concept

Saw this at the show, and I like the idea. The execution is still too large. Put the HX next to a Wrangler and it will dwarf the Jeep. Which isn't a good thing.

The H4 will be in GMT-700 which is the next gen of GMT-355. The Colorado, Canyon, H3, H3 SUT and H4 will all be on GMT-700.

That wouldn't be very Hummer-like would it?
