Hey nsap, Ford is doing more than just "actually working on them", Ford already delivered 20 of them to SCE, whom they have a colaberation with.

OK, but is that not your Short Take at the beginning that says "Ford is actually working on plug-ins"

Re: NAIAS 08: Ford Escape Hybrid Plug-In Concept
Yeah...because the big thing now is Plug In hybrids. Everyone is working on them. This vehicle is Ford's PR front to showcase their work on them.

Hey wait a minute - this must mean Toyota has it too, right? After all, thats where Ford's system came from, right?

Re: NAIAS 08: Ford Escape Hybrid Plug-In Concept
No, Ford developed their system independent of Toyota.

Re: NAIAS 08: Ford Escape Hybrid Plug-In Concept
I know, its just fun to bring up because it was such a controversy when it first came out. That, and Ford still pays royalties to Toyota to use it. So - will they have to pay plug in royalties as well?

Re: NAIAS 08: Ford Escape Hybrid Plug-In Concept
That already happened 3 months ago. The prototypes were delivered to 2 Universities in California for real-world testing. Toyota doesn't hype as much as GM, so some steps don't get noticed.

Re: NAIAS 08: Ford Escape Hybrid Plug-In Concept
Ehh...the Provoq looks a lot better.
A recent study some analysists performed discovered that people are more attracted to hybrids if it doesn't look like a car already on the market. That's why the prius is so popular. I'm not sure why Ford has a fascination with making the Escape into every hybrid concievable.
