Re: NAIAS 08: Buick Riviera Concept
the rear edges of the side windows just needs to be fixed and i'd be 100% ok with it.
agreed on the gullwing doors. MB is looking to put them into production, if GM could slap it on a car for a cheaper price, they'd beat them to the punch and give Buick a nice halo car. |

Re: NAIAS 08: Buick Riviera Concept
very cool, and somehow very Lexus-ish to me. i love it.... without the gullwing doors it would be even cooler. i mean, come on, it's no 300 SL.

Re: NAIAS 08: Buick Riviera Concept
Just for once when they show a concept like this I'd like to hear: ..."Based on the outstanding consumer demand, you can buy it at your Buick dealer next year."

Re: NAIAS 08: Buick Riviera Concept
this is obviously not even close to a production vehicle but I think that the basic design would be awesome for buick in the u.s. and complement the styling of the new enclave nicely.

Re: NAIAS 08: Buick Riviera Concept
This is a HOT looking car. It would be hard to imagine how people would react to gull wing doors on a production car. In some ways it would be neat to see, maybe people would like them. I hope some version of this car makes it into production.

Re: NAIAS 08: Buick Riviera Concept
Cool. From the front it seems to have some of the G lines. I like the rear from the C-pillar back, looks muscular from the direct rear view.
But what is the deal with the headlight assembly attempting to reach the A-pillar. I've noticed this trend in the industry. For some reason the automakers are intent on making the headlight assembly stretch all the way back to the a-pillar. I don't like that element. Kinda like in the 70s and the US automakers were intent on producing a headlamp assembly which reached all the way across the grill. That also seemed like an odd goal. I think the rear tailight assembly should contain 2 dual tailights embedded within the cover. That would look cool, and give it a race inspired look. I also like the air intake just below the headlamp assembly. Nice touch. I really wonder if produced that it will have the same line for the greenhouse, roofline. Looks cool, but also looks difficult to produce. I just hope the production model stays true to this concept, exterior line wise. GM really missed the boat on the LaCrosse production model not looking anything like the concept. Buick said it was because they felt the Buick buyer wouldn't like the lines. Well guess what, that consumer went to the Avalon and Maxima. The production version needs stay pretty close to this concept version, exterior-line wise, if produced.

Re: NAIAS 08: Buick Riviera Concept
It look nice, but it looks too derivative of recent Lexuses.
I can't see there being much of a market for large two doors. But I could see more demand from aging baby boomers empty nesters. Mark |

Re: NAIAS 08: Buick Riviera Concept
we have already seen it from all possible angles and discussed it a few hundred times. GM should have shown the production version of it, that would make sense.

Re: NAIAS 08: Buick Riviera Concept
The doors won't, but that doesn't mean the car won't be built. There are a lot of concept only cues in there, but the point of a concept car is the big picture. Buick is looking at producing a low slung coupe for the world's largest and fastest growing markets.
