Re: NAIAS 08: Buick Riviera Concept

I'm more excited about the prospect of a CTS-V coupe, which has the potential to be a lot like the car that the XLR should have been. This Riv is a bit bland and needs work.

I think that the LaCrosse will take some cues from this--especially the wraparound taillights and the roofline from heaven.

We cannot post PriddyDoane shots here, so you will have to click on the link.

Can we expect to see the LaCrosse in Detroit, or will we have to wait for New York?

Is there anything that has not been leaked yet?
LaCrosse will not be at NAIAS for sure. It will likely be at NYIAS this year.

And what is wrong with that? Last time I checked BMW had better styling then anything from Buick minus the Enclave and Velite.

I love the fact that the China guys continue to use the old-school Buick logo and fonts.

It's sad that they have a better notion of what a true Buick is.

This looks hot, to bad Buick has no exciting cars on their lots so that when people see this at the show or on TV and stop by their local dealer they have a car there that they want.

If they build it, they will come.

Agreed on the CTS coupe although the Riv (with normal doors and modern interior) would be very nice and probably lower priced. I have to disagree its bland, it could use a few changes but the design is striking IMHO. Buick used to have character and styling all its own, time to get back to that.

That looks really good. A production version won't have the gull wing doors, but I don't see why the rest of the car would need to be changed much.

AND they use the logo in Red, White, and Blue, whereas American Buicks have dropped the color out to try and Lexusize Buick.

Re: NAIAS 08: Buick Riviera Concept

That car is gorgeous in profile. Man, I can't wait to see it in the flesh. I'm glad that GM has been sending their most popular international concept cars to NAIAS (like the Efigy last year) so Americans can enjoy them.

PS - the center stack has too many buttons.

You'd think they would scrape off the Mandarin script on the back before they showed it to us.

Well....we had heard that the wing doors were being looked at for production. Remember, that GM that made such a splash in 1950's with innovation and design is coming back.
