Re: NAIAS 08: 2009 Subaru Forester

that looks rather Toyota-ish or possibly (A-Pillar back) Grand Vitara. the front looks rather tacked on, and the rear looks cribbed from other cars. all in all, i think Subaru's designs have been getting worse and worse. from the ugly new Impreza to the Tribeca with a Pacifica grill, i'm disappointed in them lately.

If this is what the automotive future holds then I am buying used.

You use to be able to recognize a Subaru--this looks like it can be anything from just about any overseas auto mfg.

Okay then...if you say so.

I actually really like the way this new Forester looks. It may not be exciting but it hardly looks bad. IMO it is an good improvement over the facelifted outgoing generation.

Re: NAIAS 08: 2009 Subaru Forester

The lines are already forming for this thing up here in Seattle. It's just the kind of thing people up here can't get enough of. Over-wrought, over-cladded, semi-masculine poser SUV's. I can see the parking lots at REI and Whole Foods now. These Subarus and CR-V's as far as the eye can see, all with Tule roof boxes..........

Re: NAIAS 08: 2009 Subaru Forester

Subaru's design gets a little more mainstream each year, which isnt nessarily a bad thing, most people like mainstream. but as far as CUV's go, I think the new Forester is one of the better ones!

Subaru was killing its designs way before Toyota stepped in.

The old Tribeca? Or the Baja? Or, to a lesser extent, the 2004-05 Impreza?

I doubt Toyota had much to do with the new Impreza or the new Forester.

Even though I think the current Vue is fine it will never make a dent in the CR-V/RAV4/Subaru crowd as is because in perceptionville it's a Hummer's cousin. I wonder if the 2-mode Vue will start making a dent in the REI lot?

Well, at least it is only humdrum looking vs. being outright ugly. As long as it is still mechanically sound, it works for me.

Re: NAIAS 08: 2009 Subaru Forester

Now that's dull. I guess with Subaru cozying up to Toyota this shouldn't be a surprise. It's a RAV4, or so it looks.
