Re: NAIAS 08: 2009 Subaru Forester
Definitely reminds me of the Outlander...I hope this nose doesn't find its way onto the Legacy/Outback...

Cherry Hill, NJ? Is that where Subbie has its US headquaters?

Re: NAIAS 08: 2009 Subaru Forester
Is Cherry Hill close to Auburn Hills? Looks like they tried to build a Mitsubishi Outlander, but somehow changed their mind halfway and ended up with a jacked-up whatsit. I have no respect for Subaru anymore. Boo, Toyota!

Re: NAIAS 08: 2009 Subaru Forester
That's a nice looking compact SUV.
I bet it's also my dad's next car. My mom has a 2001 Forester right now and my dad loves to drive it.

Re: NAIAS 08: 2009 Subaru Forester
I like it, I was never a fan of the Volvo 240 wagon lookalike of the present Forester. The exterior looks are miles ahead of the '08 Vue thats for damn sure.

Re: NAIAS 08: 2009 Subaru Forester
Toyota is killing the design of Subarus. First the Impreza, now the Forrester. What's next, no more boxer engine or no more AWD?

Re: NAIAS 08: 2009 Subaru Forester
It is beginning to look like a CUV, rather than a compact station wagon; I think it looks more CUV than the CRV, to me the CRV looks like a compact van and hatchback made a child.

Re: NAIAS 08: 2009 Subaru Forester
At least now they can call it an "SUV" without having to make any excuses.
"B-B-But it has the same roof hight as the "ABC SUV5000" -a-a-and it's all wheel drive too!....really it is!" etc..etc... ![]() I've heard every argument in the book about why the current Forester is an "SUV".....but none if it ever mattered because it never looked like an SUV. It's like trying to convince everyone that a Jeep Wrangler is really a Pickup truck. (Don't put it past some of these marketing departments )As far as appearance, regardless of opinion, the bottom line is now it at least looks like an SUV, errr...Crossover, CUV....errr whatever. Funny thing is though, I think the last thing the world needs is another small crossover, despite what the sales number may say. In my opinion it had a better niche being the mini station wagon that it was before. This will be a classic case of the kid that tried so desperately to fit in, and when he finally does he realizes that he's only achieved mediocrity, and should've just been himself from the beginning. ![]()
