Re: NAIAS 08: 2009 Dodge Ram

Uh, my 2002 Chev Avalanche pick up had rear coil springs and lockable, draining side storage bins. First in segment ? BS.

Re: NAIAS 08: 2009 Dodge Ram

Looks like the interior design team had a bit of a power struggle...."dark brown"..."no !!! light beige"...."chrome!!!!".... "no, wood grain"..."O.K. let's compromise".....

The steering wheel looks like it was taken fron a '86 Cutlass Supreme.

Love the outside tho'. A true evolution and a clear direction forward. Look's mean!
The two-tone paint is very well proportioned.

Re: NAIAS 08: 2009 Dodge Ram

I like it. I think Dodge has done a better job of the front end then Ford did with the new F150. The side storage is a great idea (innovative) and the interior looks like Dodge found a better way to do a Ford interior.

Re: NAIAS 08: 2009 Dodge Ram

The exterior looks nice, the interior isn't so hot, IMO. Dodge really need to revamp most of their interiors.

I like the dual exhaust, I like the storage bins but they take away from the look of the box. BTW, they aren't original, the Avs had them first. However, they are more versatile than the ones in my Av.

We'll have to see how well built the new RAM is. Quality and ride need serious improvements. I'm assuming they'll offer more standard equipment in this model.

C-mon, auto lights are industry standard.

Overall, looks like a winner so far.

Heh, not on Chrysler's. Most Chryslers don't even have them as an option on lower trim levels.

A good chunk of the fullsize pickups sold every year never do work that a Honda Ridgeline or even a Subaru Baja can't handle.

I know 11 people with fullsize pickups. Only two ever towed anything, and only one ever towed more than one and a half tons.

For every contractor out there that gets a pickup for his work, there's at least one guy-or girl- who gets a pickup just because they want one.

Re: NAIAS 08: 2009 Dodge Ram

It looks much better than the weak effort GM put into the Silverado. The Sierra looks ok but it doesn't have the style or character of the Ram. Compared to it GM's trucks look like plain, cheap appliances.

Kudos to Chrysler on the interior too. It's simple, stylish and it looks nice for a change.

My buddy has a pickup, I can count the number of times he has used the bed. He has never towed anything in hit life.

I showed him the Ute and he was like, not for me. I think he needs to be up high in his "man" truck. No joke, we josh him about it all the time.

Re: NAIAS 08: 2009 Dodge Ram

At least Dodge went with an optional floor-shifter on their trucks like Ford,Toyota, and Nissan.something GM has'nt even given a thought about, and it's good to see that the Hemi will get more power, and torque.

Re: NAIAS 08: 2009 Dodge Ram

I really like that truck. I am very interested to see what the HD versions will be like and the overall reliability. A Cummins might be in my future yet, if these trucks don't have too many issues mechanically that is. It will be hard to break my relationship with Duramax's however, they sure are fun to drive, pull like mad and all my GM trucks cost of ownership has been low.

Exactly. I'm sure there are some people out there who are going to work their pickup so hard that the reliability differences between the brands are a big deal.

But most of the people I know with fullsize pickups just use them as a family car. I can see the appeal, too, but I personally don't want to pay foreigners more for oil than is absolutely necessary.
