General Motors Middle East Celebrates Night Of Cars & Stars

AME Info

General Motors Middle East celebrates night of cars and stars. The public of Dubai had the rare opportunity to spend a night of glitz and glamour in the company of the most glamorous celebrities of the Arab world at the GM Style event at the Madinat Arena held recently.

Screen superstars Yosra, Milad Yousef and Sulaf Fawakherji rubbed shoulders with the biggest names from music including Rola Saad, Waad and Yuri Mrakadi.

These were just a few of the names on the celebrity list, which also included actor Tamer Hagras, singer Karl Wolf and UAE rapper Kaz Money. Rachel Hunter, one of the world's most famous supermodels, joined the glamorous list of regional celebrities for this parade of cars and stars.

The collection of cars, accompanying the celebrities was no less stunning: from the breath taking EFIJY concept showcar, to the futuristic Saab Aero X and Chevrolet Camaro and Volt concepts, to the HUMMER Open Top and luxurious custom Middle East Cadillac Escalade from the 'soon-to-be-launched' Escalade Personalization Program - each model presented by GM on the catwalk was worthy of stardom.

General Motors Showcases Innovative Designs & Technologies At The 9th Middle East International Motorshow

AME Info
13 November 2007
www.ameinfo.com

At this year's 9th Middle East International Motorshow (MEIMS), General Motors presented an impressive array of 43 vehicles, including two world premieres, four concept cars, nine Middle East premieres, eight show reveals, and one special appearance.

The vehicles encompassed all GM brands including Chevrolet, GMC, Cadillac, Hummer and Saab, demonstrating General Motors' commitment to offer Middle Eastern customers vehicles that are at the cutting edge of design and technology.

'Over the past four years, General Motors Middle East has enjoyed tremendous growth, with sales almost tripling since 2003', said Terry Johnsson President of General Motors' Middle East Operations. 'We expect the Middle East to continue to play an important role in the world-wide growth of General Motors for many years to come.' Johnsson concluded.

The Tahoe Hybrid, the first full size hybrid SUV shown in the Middle East and the Chevrolet Volt Concept, built on GM's E-Flex architecture took centre stage, demonstrating advanced propulsion technologies that improve fuel efficiency and reduce environmental impact.

Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid Coming To The Middle East

Chevrolet Tahoe Hybrid coming to the Middle East
At the forthcoming 9th Middle East International Motor Show in Dubai, General Motors will introduce to the region's market the world's first production 2-Mode full hybrid propulsion system in the full-size SUV, the Chevrolet Tahoe.

Comprehensively redesigned for 2007, the Tahoe has been weathering the demands of discerning customers in the Middle East and offers all the features as expected of a full-size SUV. With the new technology on board such as cylinder deactivation and electric motors powering the SUV, it's the most environment friendly SUV to hit the roads. That's not all. The fuel-saving advantages of the Tahoe Hybrid powertrain are complemented with superior driving experience and uncompromised capability.

'General Motors believe energy diversity and advanced systems that reduce environmental impact is the key to removing the vehicle from the environmental debate', says Terry Johnsson, President, General Motors Middle East Operations.

The General Motors 2-Mode full hybrid system can be applied to both petrol and diesel engines. One of the chief benefits of having a 2-Mode system is that it allows for more efficient packaging because its compact and powerful electric motors are designed to fit within the approximate space of a conventional automatic transmission - an efficiency advantage compared with today's typical single-mode systems that rely on much larger electric motors.

Cadillac To Present Second Generation CTS At The 9th Middle East International Motor Show

AME Info
8 November 2007
www.ameinfo.com

The much awaited production version of the second generation 2008 Cadillac CTS will celebrate its Middle East debut at the region's largest biennial motor show in November.

Following the footsteps of its predecessor which made its debut in 2002, General Motors premium brand mid-sized saloon reiterates the commitment towards the renaissance with its exciting new styling, superior handling and outstanding performance.

"The new CTS achieves both the serious performance of a sports sedan and the sophisticated poise of a luxury sedan - breaking down the traditional compromise between spirited driving and luxury motoring. The 2008 CTS is even more desirable to luxury sport sedan buyers," says Melanie Brown Maddux, Marketing Manager for Cadillac in the Middle East

The new CTS sedan has grown in size and the new dimensions have translated into an exciting exterior and interior design. The "faster" and nearly coupe-like sculpted exterior gives the car a more athletic stance, while some of the remarkable styling cues come from the Cadillac Sixteen concept.

All-New Cadillac SLS Ready For Middle East Entry

AME Info
31 October 2007

The Middle East will be the first export market for the Cadillac SLS, the long-wheelbase version of the STS luxury sedan.

The car will be revealed at the Middle East International Motor Show in Dubai on 13 November and will reach regional showrooms in the first quarter of 2008.

The newcomer is the third variant in the successful STS range, after STS itself and the high-performance STS-V. The SLS is based on the STS, but with additional design and engineering work, as well as manufacturing, taking place at Shanghai GM's state-of-the art facilities in Shanghai, China.

"With the arrival of the SLS, the STS family will become a strong three-member line-up. The STS and the STS-V have already established themselves as two successful cars, and the SLS is set to build on their success", said Terry Johnsson, President, General Motors Middle East Operations.

World Premiere For GMC Terrain In Dubai

The 2007 Middle East International Motor Show in Dubai played host to its very own “world premiere” by General Motors.

The new vehicle is the 2008 GMC Terrain for the Middle East market. Of course, this new compact 4WD is already on sale in Europe as the Opel Antara.

Since I didn’t find a press pack during the GM trolley bag launch, I had to expertly photoshop the picture of the Opel version above. The softroader is largely based on the Korean-built Chevy Captiva, so we expect similar engine options.

It rounds off the GMC line-up perfectly, since the expensive Acadia is too large for most people.

Explosive New Chevrolet CSV CR8 Arise Firmly On Middle East tracks

AME Info
12 November 2007

Explosive new Chevrolet CSV CR8 arise firmly on Middle East tracks
Chevrolet is introducing to the region the world's first production 'track-day' car at the Bahrain International Circuit and the car will be displayed at the highly anticipated 9th Middle East International Motor Show in Dubai in mid November.

The Chevrolet Special Vehicle (CSV CR8) is one of the most aggressive, unyielding high-performance cars on the market, and customers had better be prepared for the sheer exhilaration that 400 bhp provides.

The thing about CSV CR8 is that it only attracts the type of buyer who wants to experience everything the 6.0-litre V8 will give them. Even though it can be just as easily driven on the road, this Chevrolet's natural habitat is on the circuit, and that's where it shines brightest. This is a car that everyone will want but most will only dream of.

The CSV CR8 is a precise, credible machine with its efficient mechanism and phenomenal acceleration and engine performance. What's more, there's no mistaking its thoroughbred race character from its aggressive exterior styling.

GMC Terrain! Well, it wont really count as a rebadge but still!
Opel exists in the ME, so they could of sold it as an Opel, though it will be more successful as a GMC.

Maybe not exactly this but a "Terrain"-like vehicle will replace the Torrent eventually.

Out of BPG I would like to see a Rendezvous and an alpha-based Torrent.

I actually like the GMC Terrain. And I think it would sell great here in America.

Well, the idea is good, but they need to change styling from the Vue.

Agree.

Does anyone still think the BRX is a good idea? Oh wait, dumb question. Only the most vocal will and they'll personally attack me now...

Pretty strong entries in various segments. Make me wonder how Dubai sales could not possibly move northward with all these fine vehicles sitting on the lot?!
