Make Opel part of the BPG Dealership network, although now it would be BOG.
Sell the Opels as is.
Contrary to popular belief, dumping Saturn and Pontiac for a glorious european nameplate like Opel will not lead to us retched colonists buying insignias and astras like hotcakes. What it would do completely destroy the little bit of name recognition that Saturn had. Epsilon II will sell very well, but not until the Epi II Malibu shows up, hopefully after a short 3-year cycle with the LWB epsilon model.

I read somewhere that the Insignia had an electric parking brake. Can anyone help me identify it in these photos. Is it the button to the right behind the gear box?...
Yes, it is!!

Isn't there an AWD, turbocharged version on its way, to fight the Audi S4?
Yes, there will be 2 gasoline Turbos with AWD (2.0 & 2,8)!!

Re: London 08: Opel/Vauxhaul Insignia Photos

I really think that the Saturn name should be changed to Opel. In my mindset, Saturn means cheap plastic cars from Tennessee. Saturn today is going for a more upscale European approach, but it didn't work for Oldsmobile and it's not going to work for Saturn. Saturn should either go back to selling small cars or change to become Opel.

Otherwise I wish it was here next year like in Europe. I understand why GM is delaying it though. Resources are thin and in a weak economy you don't go crazy with new launches.
Now we know the reason for the delay of the NA debut:

I assume these changes will include automatic-only, no hatchback, and no Red Line version. But at least it won't be confused with a BMW 5-Series here, and it'll give the Saturn designers something to do besides put a logo on the grille.

GM doesn't really have the enormous amount of money it would take to introduce a new brand name into the US market. Remember how they blanked the air with Hummer ads for a few years? Yeah, that could have been spent on Olds or Saturn, but it wasn't.

Saturn's only advantages are high dealership satisfaction and a higher % of import cross-shoppers. This means they can reinvent themselves on the cheap. Throwing out the name and starting over would actually be putting themselves in a hole.

In my opinon, just bring it over and switch the emblems. Leave everything and I mean EVERYTHING the same and ADVERTISE THE CRAP out of it.

Here's a preliminary sketch for the Insignia:

IMHO, this design is more in line with bold American design, and would fit better in the NA market, than the 5-Series clone that Europe will get shortly.

Absolutely gorgeous! As much as I like to drive small cars, this could be my next car....if it's priced right, giving it a manual trans. etc.

[quote=stevecmh;1460116]looks fantastic.. bring it here[/QUOTE

Yes, please do bring it here as the first new OPEL, part of the new SATURN / OPEL franchise, sold exclusivly through CADILLIC / SAAB / OPEL / SATURN retailers.

The new retail group would appeal to import buyers and intenders with a full range of vehicles.

Gradually the entire Saturn range would become Opels with the exception of crossovers and utes and any sub compacts which would remain Saturns.
