    LAIAS 2012: 2014 Toyota RAV-4

Three days ago we brought you the first leaked photos of the 2014 Toyota RAV-4. Today, the compact crossover saw its official reveal at the LA autoshow. We’ve got high res photos and the full press release.

Mechanically, as expected, the new RAV4 loses its optional V6 engine and gets an upgraded 6 speed transmission to replace the old 4 speed. The optional 3rd row is also gone, as is the spare tire mounted on the rear hatch. The rear hatch also no longer swings out and swings up instead.

Photos and press release at link

I won't lie, it's not bad looking. Looks more stylish and aggressive than the last one.

I'm not a Toyota buyer but when I saw the image on my screen, I had a flash to a cartoon character. Can't place it. Maybe add some teeth, paint it blue and you'd have the shark Bruce in Finding Nemo ?

Overall, it's OK except for the awful front clip.

Looks like an old Saturn Vue.

    Which is not really good.

The outside isn't that bad at all but that interior is yuk!

The interior looks FJ cartoonish and silly. The exterior is a bit too familiar but okay. Dropping the V6 is expected and sad but where is the power replacement? Only offering the 2.5 in an AWD vehicle this heavy takes away any performance cred that the last one possessed. The badge on the exterior will probably make it sell like hotcakes.

I like the exterior, looks pretty good all around. It looks shorter than the current one to me, but that could just be the styling. The interior.... the more I look at it, the more I like it, but it seems very utilitarian, truck like. I wouldn't think that would appeal to women, but maybe I'm wrong

Hide the Toyota badge and it looks like a mini Volvo with a Subaru face pasted on the front.

    Re: LAIAS 2012: 2014 Toyota RAV-4

This is what happens when an older Jeep Compass and an "ugly Stripper" Dodge Caliber drink too much spiked antifreeze and have a highball of ethanol before getting it on! No doubt the Caliber had a car cover draped over her to hide the fugly lines.

Sorry guys inside and out, this love child is worse looking than the previous generation rav4.

Put it next to the new Escape or the crv and it is a total embarassment.

Looks like they didn't finish the bottom of this one, and the new one! At least that is always what it has looked like to me.

I agree, but I also must add that the Equinox/Terrain murder all the above in the aesthetics department, inside and out. The Nox' and Terrain, although small, both look like an SUV, whereas the others all look like hatchbacks or toys. This Toyota stinks so bad, it's ridiculous. The interior is about as much of a disaster as the new Malibu's. Square vents in the center, and round on the corners. A big gaping storage hole in the passenger dash. I swear, this interior is a mish-mash of designs. The only thing they did okay on is the fact that they apparently added some color options. The exterior is just as bad.
