Re: GMT-900's: 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe Information
Very nice, I do hope the MPG figures are combined, if thats highway, its only a slight improvement. I love the interiors, the details are much better than the current mode, cant wait until I see one in person!

Re: GMT-900's: 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe Information
GM is counting on their Displacement on Demand engine technology (Impala SS, etc) BIG TIME to get those EPA mileage #'s up - I hope it works! Can't wait to see the Z-71 version!

James still has some explaining to do. He was wrong on so many accounts. Still pretty cool. I love the new pics and info.

"15 city 25 hwy."
I would think the city number will be higher and the highway number lower because of the DOD. I am guessing 16-17 city and 23-24 highway. My SRX V6 is rated at 23mpg hwy so the Tahoe has the potential to do even better. |

Re: GMT-900's: 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe Information
I like all they have done with the new trucks except one thing. Why is the six speed transmission only available with the biggest engine. It needs to be standard across the board. Think of the mileage they could create if the 4.8L V8 with DOD and backed by the six speed. And thats mileage with the trucks and with the Greenies out there that like to complain about mileage. I guess I just dont understand why the six speed is just not standard across the board.

Re: GMT-900's: 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe Information
Well, if the combined is as HEV says expect a real adjusted combined of 17-18. Lets hope he is wrong.
I'd give the interior a 9, the exterior an 8, and the powertrain options a 6. At first I was fairly ticked James's numbers were so far off, but then I remembered that fuel econ will sell these things - not hp. The hp becomes important in the Slade and Denalis - and 400 sounds just fine. Thats up 60 from last year. The 5300 jump is less impressive, but still more than adequate - especially if we get a combined 20.5 - thats incredible (probably too incredible, I'm thinking HEV is right, and expect 15-16/22-23 - still pretty good. DoD is the only fuel saving feature over last year. So, I'm not expecting a huge change in city. Lack of the 6 speeds in anything that costs less than 50 grand is dissapointing. Ultra Magnus I agree - All engines should have had DoD, VVT, and 6 speeds. That would have been true leadership. I also agree, the 4.8 with DoD and a 6 speed may have gotten another 2-3mpg. Exactly what GM needed. Towing capacity - if they sacrificed some for a weight and hence fuel econ savings that makes great sense for the Tahoe. The Suburban better have its class leading pulling power. So, overall I'd give the package an 8, not the 9 or 10 GM really needed. These will be best in class - but with gas prices the way they are - I'm not conviced delaying all those Zeta vehicles was the right call for what we got. Keep in mind my standards are very high, a true "10" would have been a standard hybrid system - something I still think makes sense if it is a $1500 option as claimed by GM and gives back 25-30% Last edited by goblue : 09-20-2005 at 05:02 PM. |
