Yes, yes it is. Like the Holden One Tonner, the Crewman is a true Cab-Chassis.

This thing is the true SSR part deux. I bet it's overall real world consumption is 16mpg per tank too.

Good idea, ugly truck. Unibody trucks like this will be the future of trucks for most consumers. Body on frame needs to go except for in areas like constructions and big towing applications.

Re: GMC Denali XT Concept Unveiled!

I was kinda hoping for a more production ready showing. Like the idea, now just tone it down with things that may actually see production.
Also, just looking at this thing it doesn't look like it would save much fuel compared to a BOF truck, it just looks heavy.

That would explain the higher payload/tow rating.

Did the Crewman have an IRS or use a solid axle like the Ute One Tonner, thought I read where the Crewman was IRS and the AWD Cross8 used a solid axle.

How far does the frame go forward?

Is it a ladder frame up to the front bumper or more like a unit body subframe only extending under the cab?

Re: GMC Denali XT Concept Unveiled!

Ah, GM styling is back.

I wouldn't expect everyone's gonna love it-in fact, some show similar degrees of repulsion as I do adoration for this bad boy. But thankfully it's not another bland design that drawers neither praise nor criticism. Decades of that from the General is enough; time for a new game plan.

Beyond the non-functional tailgate-I think the stylish, curved edges of the tailgate would impede the loading and unloading of articles from the bed-my only concern is that the styling will be dumbed down enough for production so that what seems forward-thinking design for a 21st century car-truck will come across simply as tasteless design. We'll see, hopefully.

To me the old Crewman was near perfect, except for the ultra-upright rear seats, which helped it gain the nickname Crewkid (as that's all you could fit in there).
I personally prefer the look of one piece design like the VE Ute, El Camino and Avalanche. But thats why there are so many different vehicles, not everyone likes the same thing.

I do agree the load rating should be better and that certain design cues hopefully do not make it on the production version.... if it ever sees production that is

Will agree on the grounds that GM will price it out of it's market.

That or do what GM does best, introduce a great vehicle with an anemic engine, piss off potential customers where they buy else where and then give it the engine options it should have had when it first came out, only to cancel it wondering why on earth it failed....

Interesting comment coming from someone with a retromobile copying a 1960's design.

Wow. That makes the Denali XT look gorgeous.

Those wheels are amazing. And the whole thing has a very masculine look I think. I dont see why everyone hates it.

BBDOS CV8 can answer this one in detail. It is a very unique set-up.

Re: GMC Denali XT Concept Unveiled!

The cluster has been taken from the camaro, I wonder if that engine has been as well.....

28-32mpg would mean that this is the future of light trucks in the US.

Payload is so low because of the huge wheels(23"!!), its the same with the holden utes. The larger the wheels the less payload it can carry.

I actually like it, but as a concept. I'm not expecting the end result to be anything like it.
