I guess this is mainly personal view (and speculation about the feelings of percentages of the market out there) but another way to look at the practicality of the Denali XT is by comparing it to a wagon - a wagon where you'd rather not pile in dirty stuff, and where its easier to throw stuff in and reach in for stuff over the side.

I am in the building industry and don't have the need (or money) for a separate true work truck myself but would like something like this for hauling building supplies - often it is smaller stuff that would fit in a wagon, I suppose, maybe sticking out sometimes, but this might work a bit better and seams 'neater'.

Probably a lot of folks are out there driving Ridgelines as alternatives to SUV's - they are doing double-duty as family haulers and occasional carriers of "stuff" that is maybe easier to throw in a bed. In the same way, this Denali could be seen as a counterpart to a wagon without the negative stigma wagons possess. And surely it'd capture some market share from smaller pickup trucks.

Re: GMC Denali XT Concept Unveiled!

No more news on whether GM is actually going forward with this thing?

All I can say is: if they build it, I will come. And I misspelled that last word...

Lutz said GMC would get a 4-door version of the Holden Ute, only it would be toughened and look more truck-like. This is probably it, only it'll be much more toned down.

That sucks, save that crap for Pontiac and make the damn concept. This Holden Ute will probably be low to the ground like a sports car.

Actually, it will probably be a little higher than the Ute. Remember, it's still supposed to be a truck, just smaller. The G8 ST is basically the Holden Ute as it is.

Re: GMC Denali XT Concept Unveiled!

The Ute should go to Chevy(as its only logical & it belongs there) & GMC gets this Denali XT.

Right. Throw a Malibu grille on it an voila! El Camino. Give the Malibu 2-doors and voila! Chevelle. It's not that hard, it's been done before

The Chevelle should not be a 2dr Malibu nor should it look like the Malibu.
It should essentially replace the now defunct Monte Carlo.

Well the Chevelle was a Malibu before, why should it be different now? If the Monte Carlo really needed a replacement, it wouldn't be recently defunct.

Maybe your right, IMO it should be as high off the ground as the GMC Denali XT concept or Honda Ridgeline. Personally I still feel Pontiac should get this 4 door variant and GMC gets this concept built.
