Geneva 2013: Alfa Romeo Gloria Concept

Alfa Romeo Gloria Concept is an Audi A5 Sportback-Sized Sports Sedan, Debuts in Geneva

The second most problematic child in the Fiat-Chrysler Group after Lancia, is also the one with the greatest prospects for future growth – just as long as the Italians get their cards right and finally begin investing in products.
Of course, we're talking about Alfa Romeo, which is trying to tell the world that it's slowly getting back on its feet with the presentation of a new concept model for a sharply styled sports sedan that will join the highly-anticipated production version of the 4C mid-engine coupe at next month's Geneva Auto Salon.

Named 'Gloria', the study is the work of the European Design Institute (IED) of Turin in collaboration with the Alfa Romeo Style Centre. It might break cover in Switzerland, but the Gloria was designed to appeal to consumers in the North American and Asian markets.

"In effect, the saloon remains a symbol of elegance and prestige for these markets, associated with the idea of comfortable space both at the front and the rear, expressed by the length of the model," said Alfa Romeo in a statement.

I'll reserve judgment until it's dropped back down to a more production-ready look. Could be purdy cool.

GM needs to open a design studio in Italy. They could learn a lot.

This isnt Alfa-Chrysler work. its a design study by students of a Italian Design school but few features could still find its way to production. Not sure if Alfa is willing to shy away from the bug eye headlamps, and Ferrari styled Tailamps. thats two design features i love about Alfas.

Make a successor to the 156, Mr. Marchionne. Best Alfa since the 60's Alfa's: practical as well as elegant.

I can see that, especially in the roofline.

Wow, this thing is so 21st century...the production car will not resemble it because the bean-counters often ruin an excellent design through making things 'practical.'

This is Chrysler-Fiat were talking about... a Company that put cars like the Prowler and Viper and now 4C into production.

    Beautiful, but pretty generic modern.

    Isn't the 159 the 156's successor?

I'd prefer 3 medium sized headlights on each side and a taller greenhouse.

It's alright though. 10x better than the current Malibu.
