Looks really good, and a great idea for a small family car.
The engines would be poorly underpowerd for America. The Astra's 1.8 would need to be standard, with a 2.2 VVT optional.
I think they could easily get rid of the Outlook...Chevrolet GMC and Buick have that covered very nicely, but I know the chances of that one happening are 0

Zafira makes more sense in a time of high gas prices and enviro conscious society....

A lot of people (my self included) are rethinking excess in their automobile preferences

As much as I like this version, I'll pass and wait for the new Mono CAB design set to debut in the next couple of years.......

I like the interior myself. Doesn't look any cheaper than any other vehicle in it's category.

I think Saturn can forget about the Outlook. GM doesn't need 4 of the Lambdas. 3 is plenty.

Dream on. There won't be any new diesels over here for a while. Not until they figure out how to meet the new regs, without the costly urea injection.

Huh? You mean Relay, Outlook and this? The Relay is dead. The Oultook could be soon, hopefully with this replacing it. But the rumors are that won't happen until the next gen of the Zafira...2010 or 2011, I think. Maybe 2012. That's too long IMO. We need it now! And does GM still make the 2.2L? I thought everything switched tot he 2.4L.

And I really hope they change the name if they bring it here. Though, I guess Saturn is GM's only division that could pull off a name like Zafira

The could couple twin particle filters hooked together, or find out how Honda does it, because they do not use urea for the diesels coming here

Yes, but only as a Direct Injection with 155hp (Zafira, Vectra and Signum).

Looks nice! I could see it doing well in the US (most likely the next generation). If it's built in the US it might be able to make a small amount of money, but most importantly it would get entry level type buyers into a GM vehicle. I know it would sell much better as Chevrolet though....

But if it did tank, better it tanked in smaller Saturn numbers then larger Chevy numbers. I am not saying it will, but you have to be careful with such vehicles.

Actually that is the plan if I'm not mistaken.
