Looks really nice. The back end looks a lot like the Suburu Tribeca.

I really don't find anything amazing about the Honda or Toyota pictured. The only way they may seem better looking is because of the H and T on the grille. The H and T are alone worth many "perception points".
The Traverse blows the Honda and Toyota away, styling-wise.

Re: Chicago 08: 2009 Chevrolet Traverse

Does nothing for me. It's just another Lambda, which means it's heavy in weight and driveability, and not very economical. I would be annoyed if I were a Saturn dealer. I would consider the Traverse(What a rediculous name) if it were a foot shorter, 500 lbs. lighter, and a 5 seater.

Go ahead and consider it - it's called Equinox

Oh my gosh! That is amazing looking! Traverse is going to fly of dealer lots! I guess I had better get my name on the waiting list. I can't wait to see it in other colors!

Did anyone see Ed Peper's comments on Fastlane?

He says Traverse is not pronounced like Traverse City (Mi) but rather TraVERSE.

Re: Chicago 08: 2009 Chevrolet Traverse

WOW, it's a good thing people don't cross-shop GM divisions or this would cannibalize sales from Saturn, GMC and Buick! [/sarcasm]

Can we start it off with a great lease rate [nail] and some conquest $$ [Saturn's coffin]?

That's just stupid, that totally ruins it for me, it's obviously supposed to be TRAverse, but now everyone will be calling it TraVERSE because of some guy commenting on it. Retarded.

Re: Chicago 08: 2009 Chevrolet Traverse

Saturn better be working on a Redline version of the Outlook is all I gotta say

The boss (aka my wife) looked at the Traverse pictures and thought it looked nice - not as good as the Enclave in her mind but a good job - she also said the name was dumb and she prob wouldn't have shopped it on name alone.

She is not *super* picky on stuff, but there are times certain things sound/look whacky and my wife would stay away from those vehicles - Traverse is a name she didnt like

Re: Chicago 08: 2009 Chevrolet Traverse

I really think this is a great looking vehicle and complements to GM for distinguishing it from the other Lambdas.

What I don't understand is how making the Traverse (and Malibu) with more expressive, upmarket and arguably better exterior designs than the Saturn counterpart while selling at a lower price doesn't undermine Saturn's very existence. The money saved not having a separate Saturn model could have been used to make the interior that much better (like avoiding the hard plastic like on the Malibu door panels) and more competitive with the Toyota/Honda. There is no substantive reason in terms of capabilities, features or price to choose an Outlook over the Traverse. Moreover, the Traverse looks more "international" than American. Its almost as if the Traverse and Outlook should swap front clips / badging.

This is great news for Chevrolet (and by extension GM assuming significantly higher volumes) and bad news for Saturn.

Re: Chicago 08: 2009 Chevrolet Traverse

I like it, though am I also part of the group that would be just as happy with a 5 seat version on a shorter wheelbase - and no, the grossly outdated Equinox does not work for me. I'd like a vehicle that fits reasonably in my garage. Not every CUV buyer needs 7 seats. Fact is, most don't. Still waiting for a GM vehicle option to replace the Trailblazer or Equinox families.
