Re: Beijing: Buick Invicta Concept revealed
I like the fact that the hood is high. In fact there are a lot of cars I look at and wish it was taller. It's the shortness of the hood that I think makes it look bad. You've got this tiny front end, and a loooong body.

I don't mind the designs coming from other countries where GM is in the market. But the designs of vehicles that will be sold in the US/NA should have some kind of American looks to them. I am tired of seeing more & more of Pontiacs & Buicks not having the American looks they should have. I am tired of some of Pontiacs & now w/this Invicta concept having foriegn looks to them since they possibly will be sold here in the US/NA. I would not buy any of these imported vehicles w/Pontiac or Buick badges on them. They can stay where they came from. ![]()

Re: Beijing: Buick Invicta Concept revealed
All I have to say is WOW! Buick isn't for old people anymore! I love how they brought back the red, white, and blue in the emblem too. Everything about this car is awesome, its very sleek and stylish. I would actually consider getting this car. I love the tailights btw. I think GM should put more signature aspects into each brand, i.e. vertical led tail lamps for Cadillac or how BWM has the circle running lights. Good job buick, now just replace the Lucerne and your lineup will be complete!

More unique than anything Lexus has, and that line down the side is a hertiage line used on many Buicks through the years. Look at a few older Buicks. It looks great, and goes beyond my expectations. Although the portholes could be on the side instead of the hood.

Re: Beijing: Buick Invicta Concept revealed
If Buick builds something close to this, the average age of a Buick buyer will plummet. This 23 year old would definitely consider buying one.

Re: Beijing: Buick Invicta Concept revealed
It is problematic if the typical American attitude is that suspension work (testing, tuning, etc.) is mundane and can be farmed out to save money. Admittedly this is Buick but hopefully at least with Caddy and G8 we can all agree on the importance of suspension work (if we ever hope to be competitive with the Germans or anyone else).

Re: Beijing: Buick Invicta Concept revealed
Looks pretty good; depending on drivetrain choices, I would consider one. Most likely something like Impala replacement, Malibu, Invicta/Lacrosse replacement, Saab 9-5 replacement, CTS, or G8 will be in my future…I know that’s a pretty broad spectrum…I guess I’d also throw in the possibility of a 4-door car-based unibody sport pickup truck like the Denali XT if one ever comes out.
Obviously the images we are seeing are a big step forward from the LaCrosse but to me it seems more like the Malibu than the original CTS in terms of impact – by that I mean the Malibu was a strong step forward and a more handsome car than the previous Malibu, but the CTS was a total paradigm shift that looked like nothing else and that redefined the brand. I had hoped the Lacrosse replacement would be a little more stunning like when Evoq/XLR/CTS redefined Cadillac. But maybe just fairly handsome, refined vehicles like Enclave and Invicta are what the doctor ordered for Buick. The interior looks absolutely awesome. I’ll have to see the car in person to see how effective the sweep spear is, to see whether it looks a little less Lexus-like in person, and in general to make a final judgment about the exterior. |

Re: Beijing: Buick Invicta Concept revealed
I think the car is gorgeous. And if I had the money, I would definitely buy it. But I'm saying the design has an awkwardness to it that keeps it from being outstanding.

Re: Beijing: Buick Invicta Concept revealed
Why is that so hard to believe?
If all those people who bought an Enclave put this car next to it in their driveway that average age number will probably drop another ten years or so. I have no delusions of Buicks average age dropping below 48 or so because now we are talking income levels here. If $33,000 for a nicely loaded Lacrosse is the point of entry for the brand, then you will not be getting too many 25 year olds.
