Re: Here's the new Buick!
I like it! Very nice. Wouldn't mind being a 27 year old Buick owner with this car.
The dash to me looks alittle wierd, but I'm sure it'll grom on me.

Re: Beijing: Buick Invicta Concept revealed
Gorgeous. Now, if only all of those details, at least on the outside, can make it to production.

Re: Beijing: Buick Invicta Concept revealed
People I could tell you right now, the next Lacrosse, Invicta whatever they call it will look and perform great. It will be a modern design, with a high quality interior and very nice exterior looks. it will have a 3.6 with optional DI and a 6 speed auto. Whatever would make anyone think it will be a bomb ? It will probably be nicer than the Malibu, right behind the CTS.
However like Caddy, Buick will have the car behind their sedan flagship that is nicer. The CTS is nicer atleast inside than the STS and this Lacrosse/Invicta blows away the current Lucerne. GM please drop the Lucerne after 2009 and bring us the RWD Holden/Chinese Park Avenue sometime in 2009. Also, Caddy please give the STS a better interior or make bring us the replacement. Come on GM !!!!! |

) is nicer than it. When you have buyers that are used to the "Lexus" experience or the "Mercedes" experience of buying from their dealerships, how are you going to convince a lot of them to come onto a low-rent lot that is also selling Pontiac G5s? There is certainly no feel of "luxury" when you go there. I don't mean to sound too critical, because I know it's an enormously expensive problem to fix. However, I do believe that the poor quality of some of these BPG stores may be a negative in a lot of consumers' eyes that keep them from buying a car there. GM has to face this reality and try to find a way to work around it. Other than that, I love this car. I am 25 and would have absolutely no qualms about driving it. Good job, GM.

On another note: This greenhouse is more practical from a comfort and safety standpoint. Also looking straight at the front (picture #4), the car has the same shape on sides as the CTS, which somehow reminds me of a head of a shark (a good thing), because of the way the body tapers behind the front wheel wells. I don't think it's insulting to say that the car competes with the lower end Lexus (ES): it certain is not designed as an LS-killer. Last edited by Greg Burr : 04-20-2008 at 11:55 AM. |

Re: Beijing: Buick Invicta Concept revealed
I think that this car will do well for Buick. Some have stated a $28000 base price this is not TL and ES competition this is TSX and 9-3 pricing which is not the intended competition. A $33,000 price would undercut the two but only by a few hundred dollars. With this configuration a 3.2DI 275 HP six speed combo should be standard on CX and CXL the CX would come with leather and the LCD screen but no nav, and 17 inch wheels and heated/cooled front seats. CXL should add the nav in addition to heated rear seats maybe features like laser cruise control and 18 inch wheels. The CXS features a 3.6DI 320 HP six speed combo with all of the CXL fare, plus AWD a sportier suspension and 19 inch wheels. On top would be the ULTRA trimline with all CXS features plus the addition of cooled rear seats and adjustable suspension. Ultra should also include semi-analine leather power rear sunshade and keyless entry linked preference settings and a fancy park assist.
In my structure I would like to see the prices as follows. CX - $33,000 CXL - $38,000 CXS - $44,000 ULTRA - $49,000 I see this happening with a MCE in the CTS for 2010 upgrading it to be more like the 5 series/E class price (starting in the low $40,000's) Also the RWD Park Avenue/Electra could start around $55,000 and extend to possibly the low $80,000 range to compete with the LS and the proposed $70,000 RWD V8 Acura RL. Also with an upper $60,000-$100,000 STS replacement there would be little overlap above too. NOTE this is what I would like to see, and what I hope happens. |

Re: Beijing: Buick Invicta Concept revealed
If I had my way, Buick would have its small/midsize sedans be FWD and its larger sedans be RWD. But, those opinions are reserved for the Reader's Talent section.
Anyway, does anyone notice that the lock/unlock buttons are located on the center console, next to the hazard lights button? ![]()

Re: Beijing: Buick Invicta Concept revealed
You know I would not have thought of that but you are right...the two do manage to share elements despite being quite different. But whereas the MKT is brave and has the potential to redefine the luxury car, the Invicta plays it quite safe.....if ONLY it had the front end of the Riviera or something close!
