HAHAHAHA That's hallarious. What is even more hallarious is I must agree with your comment. Pitiful.

At $100,000 AU this thing is priced even above the H2 fully loaded. I am sure the H2 will demolish this hideous thing in ANY off road competition. Hell, the H3 would take this thing on at half the price. GM needs to sell more SUV's in Austrailia and give Toyota a reality check. What is available in Austrailia from GM as far as 4X4's go? Why would Toyota, the Prius company, be labeled as the best in off-road? GM is lacking in the advertising game.

I must agree, that would be a cool option on most SUV's.

A Australian Mining company replaced their Landcruisers with H3's . It did not take too long before the H3's were ditched and replaced by Landcruisers. My feeling is the H3 has a very short life expectancy here. I was just at the Sydney Motor Show and very few people were crowding around the Hummer's on display.

Toyota actually tests its Landcruisers in Australia, GM doesn't simple answer.

the Landcruiser is to the Tahoe or the Hummer as the SASR is to the Delta Force or SEALS

No, I'm not kidding. Are you? Whether or not the SUV gets 'used' for what it's good at is MOOT. Like the Lexus LX, the Land Cruiser is an extremely capable off-road vehicle. Not that for any reason you SHOULD know this (I mean, really - who cares?) - but most automotive enthusiasts are aware of this...

Maybe I'm mistaken.. What makes the Escalade more luxurious than the Land Cruiser 200? I'm not being sarcastic - I'm actually asking...

What's with you people! GM didn't design the Cadillac Escalade to be an off-roading machine! The Escalade was mainly made for people who want an ultra luxurious fullsize SUV with eye catching styling. The Cadillac Escalade was built for light off-road use, not extreme off-roading like the Hummer H3 is capable of. The Cadillac Escalade beats out it's competition in luxury, interior and exterior design, and power. That's what GM designed it for. It was not made for extreme off-roading conditions.

100k is obsurd. It will be treated like the MB G-Wagon, full of golf and grocery bags.

That thing is price of two H2's. Or a 1 year old H1! Hard to justify.

Please feel free to post the full and complete backstory on that one.

Are you claiming the H3 is not offroad worthy?
Or that it won't hold up under rugged use?
Or that the FJ Cruiser is a better vehicle than the H3?
Or that the H2 can't hold it's own against the fluffy Landcruiser?

We don't get the FJ Cruiser in Aust and i think it is just a re bodied Prado. The only Landcruiser's we get here are the 78 series (which has barely changed in 20 years) and the new 200 series. The mining companies in Aust give their vehicles a hiding and as a result they cannot afford to have them constantly getting repaired. The Landcruiser's (either 78/100 series) have a proven record in Australia the only other vehicle to have a similar reputation is the Nissan Patrol. Others like the Land Rover Defender and the Ford F150 made a small impact in the mining industry but not anywhere near the numbers of the Toyota's. Australia and the US are of a similar size but the distances between population in Aust is staggering. At some mine sites the closest civilization is over 1000km (600miles) away so reliability is important not price.

Actually F250 4 x4 Diesels, but they did not last very long as well.

the conclusion was arrived at by the hardheaded unemotional businessmen in charge of the australian mining industry.

the australian outback is the harshest, roughest most unforgiving terrain in the world. even the slightest slipup from man or machine can mean the difference between life and death. unfortunately none of the GM vehicles are considered worthy of being upto the task in such conditions.

the toyota landcruiser has, time and again, over the decades, proved itself to be king of the australian outback; no other vehicle comes even close. if you watch the dicovery channel; national geographic, animal planet, you'll understand what i mean.

even the most ardent, holden fans and loyalists from australia on the GMI board, won't deny this.
