Blessed with virtually perfect weather last Saturday, the 2014 Concours d'Elegance a the Innof St. Johns Michigan welcomed huge crowds to the expansive grounds of the St. Johns golf course where 250 vehicles helped highlight the events th anniversary in its new Plymouth location. This years event also highlighted several classes of automobiles including vintage drag bikes, jet age pickup trucks, as well as a special exhibit honoring Virgil Exner the man who helped create the "Forward Look" a design theme that defined Chrysler's offerings during the 1960's. As a bonus two of Exners concept creations where also on hand to wow the crowds at the Inn of St. Johns the Diablo roadster, as well as the XNR concept car which showcased the radical potential of the "Forward Look".

At the end of the day though, the main event (the unveiling of the best of show cars) took place to put a cap on the festivities. This years winners were both one of a kind vehicles with the Best in Show American category being won by a 1932 Duesenberg Model J Convertible Victoria By Murphy owned by William and Barbra Parfet of Hickory Corners Michigan. The only Model J built with a Murphy body, it wowed the crowds with its full restoration as well as its level of exclusivity and rarity. Meanwhile Best in Show European was once again won by a vintage Italian car, this time a 1939 Bugatti T57C Cabriolet that was trucked from the Patterson Collection which is located in Louisville Kentucky took top honors and allowed an Italian flavored two peat at this years event. With an estimated attendance of over 10,000 visitors, the 2014 Concours d'Elegance of America continued its streak of success, and we look forward to seeing what the future will bring at next years event.

Murphy is a coachbuilder and many Duesies Packards and Caddys from that era did have a few bodies that were built by coach-builders and stay tuned for pics (they will be uploaded when i get home from work)
