Except that the Skyline has had those taillights since the 80's

No, what I really think is that four round taillights has been a Corvette and GM trademark for decades: Camaro, Manta, Opala, Corvair. . .

Never heard of two of those cars and the Camaro had 4 tailights like....once? Mid 70's? In 4 generations. Corvair? You are really reaching here.

Skyline was a JDM only car initially, doubt they were trying to imitate the 'vette. Certainly not, IMO, a GM 'trademark'
