Will GM be last to market again? I hope not.

Re: VW Golf Plug-in Hybrid

I understant this is a 'classical' hybrid car that allows recharging the battery from an outlet. So both the gas engine and the battery drive the wheels. This is what Vue plug-in hybrid will be like.
Volt is more than this, since there's no connection between the gas engine and the wheels. The engine only recharges the battery. So, this requires a more advanced battery that the 'classical' hybrid. The mileage also will be greater.

Yeah...um...WTF is the VUE Hybrid let alone the plug in version. How long has the escape been out?

If the Escape was like 4 inches longer it would be the same size as the first Explorer...and we haven't made strides pfft...

It isn't, it works like the Volt, where the main driver is the electric engine, and the diesel engine is the backup. And 30 miles of EV-only range isn't all that bad (This is just a start after all) , hopefully the car doesn't weigh too much.

VW said it is adapting electric motors, hybrid drive systems and lithium-ion battery packs to its TDI and gasoline engines. The Golf TwinDrive test vehicle delivers a combined 174 horsepower and can run up to 30 miles on pure electric power.
Volt doesn't have hybrid drive system since its drive system is only electric.
Also, for Volt there's no combined power since only the battery supplies energy to the wheels.
