***Taufkirchner Classic Car Show 2007 (Part 7)***

Part 7

Porsche 924

Ford Thunderbird

Chevrolet Camaro

Skoda Felicia Convertible

Volkswagen Kharman Ghia Cabrio

BMW CS. I waited for the dude in Lederhosen to pass by because I thought it would make a funny shot. BMW = Bavarian and this guy is in traditional Bavarian clothing!

Hansa 2000. Hansa was a brand of Borgward.

The Steyr-Puch version of the Fiat 500

Muscled-up BMW CS

Fiat Sportcoupe

R107 Mercedes-Benz SL. Hate what the owner did to the grille! The other Benz is a W108 250S S-Class.

BMW 2002 non-turbo I assume...

NSU Prinz

MG TF and Volkswagen Beetle Carbio

Opel Ascona Type "A"

Porsche 914 Turbo

Volvo PV544

Mercedes-Benz 300SEL 3.5 (200-hp V8)

End of Part 7

This would be the best set so far from my perspective - the Thunderbird, Felicia, Karmann Ghia and BMW CS are among my all-time favorites. I also like the Fiat 1500 Spider (not some "sportcoupe") very much, and have learned to appreciate NSU's after all those years.

I really wonder why Karmann didn't resurrect the Karmann Ghia when the Smart Roadster was still in production. I guess they will have another chance if Volkswagen really builds the rear-engined car.

It will get better. You've seen nothing yet.

Any love for that Opel Ascona? I think it looks pretty good, considering the Ascona from the 1980s was so damn boring looking...

Maybe a tiny bit - looks "stripperish" to me - not that I love the 1980s Asconas any more, I just don't have that much affection for older Opels but the KAD perhaps...

They were strippers.

The Ascona wasn't a Commodore or Diplomat to begin with. Also, mainstream cars in Europe at that time had literally no standard features. You had to pay for everything. On any Mercedes' from the 1960s and 1970s you even had to pay extra for that co-passenger side mirror!

The NSU Prinz reminds me of a taller, narrower Chevy Corvair.

I do know that, which doesn't make them any more appealing. That said, the Simcas for example managed not to look that dire...

Neat pics! Was that a Opel Admiral?

My maternal grandfather had a 1970 280SE in taupe, similiar to the 300SEL 3.5 pictured...

I especially like seeing the US cars at the shows!

Next time I go to Europe, I want to see one of these car shows!

The engine of the Prinz was in the back too.

Back then, times were different. There was less competition so people put up with it. People were also willing to pay for the cars back then because of perceived values etc.

Nope, that was a Opel Diplomat. I have pictures of that baby. Patience, patience.

There are a ton of classic car shows in my area alone, and the rest of Europe. If I only I had the time...
