***Taufkirchner Classic Car Show 2007 (Part 6)***

Part 6

The Mercedes 710 Kurzhauber and Hanomag AL28 trucks, together from part 5....

Fiat Spider

Mercedes "Pagoda" SL. Forget what model it was (230, 250 or 280SL)...

A real rarity! That green car is a Simca 1300 GT. A French car. The 1300 looked a bit like a Renault 20.

BMW 635i: hotness from the 1980s.

A BMW CS and a Ferrari, right? Nope, that little Italian hotty is actually a Fiat Dino.

Jaguar MK11 I think...

Mercedes-Benz 280SE with a 4-speed manual transmission. The owner of this car was a college student who was also an MB nut.

Mercedes W115 240D 3.0: the world's first 5-cylinder diesel engine. With an output of 80-hp, this was the most powerful and fastest (0-100 km/h in 19.9 seconds) diesel sedan in the world before the turbocharged 300SD (W116) came along.

Old Auto Union or DKW product...

Random picture of the farmland the show was held on...

Jaguar E-Type

Opel Rekord Coupe

BMW 3er "Bauer" Cabriolet

Citroen DS

1976 Bitter CD. Erich Bitter was obsessed with creating his own sports cars and he founded his own company and named it after himself. He mainly used Opel engines and parts for his cars.

End of Part 6

A bit forgotten today, it was actually the European Car of the Year back in 1976, when Chrysler was still the third-largest automaker in Europe. It was actually called Simca 1307 (base model, also available as 1308 and 1309), as well as Chrysler Alpine in the UK. This model has a lot of history to tell... A really nice car, it's a shame it's so forgotten now...

Bitters were actually sold in the US for a spell, one of my former employers used to sell them, before I arrived there...

Good one (joke).

You're right. I knew the name was "Bauer" but I didn't expect it to be spelled as "Baur". Thanks.

Indeed, a shame it's forgotten. In fact brands like Simca, Talbot, Delahaye, Tatra, ISO, Riley, Panhard, Lea Francis and many more are pretty much unknown to many so-called "car enthusiasts".

By the way, I thought this Simca looked pretty sexy. That green color is so '70s and I am digging the design.

Interesting. It kind of makes sense though. Bitter wanted to sell these cars as exotics and the US was a powerful market full of wealthy individuals looking for uniquness in their cars.
