EVerytime I see a Porsche, I want one more and more. I think the new ones are arguably the best looking Porsches ever.

There are many differences if you know what to look for, the biggest being the headlights. To the untrained eye, a C5 and C6 vette look more or less the same.

Re: Spy Shots: ’06 Porsche 911 Cabriolet
Okay, a new set of headlights makes a 996 to 997 designation? BTW I have owned several Porsches including a 911 and 928S so I know about evolutionary styling (actually that does not apply to 928s). At this rate, it'll take Porsche another 10 years to make a rear reflector change and give it a 998 designation.

Sarcasm noted, but:
We mock what we don't understand. or Beauty isn't only skin deep. or Look before you leap. or any other clever saying that means there's a lot more than meet's the eye. Go to this link: http://www.seriouswheels.com/top-200...-Carrera-S.htm read it, and then you'll know what is different, other than the headlights.

Great points Rex!

Re: Spy Shots: ’06 Porsche 911 Cabriolet
The point on styling is Porsche doesn't take any chances with the 911.
Ferrari takes chances good or bad, a Ferrari still looks like a Ferrari but doesn't look the same as the previous model. Yes Porsche is successful with their formula but we should still be able to demand more from Porsche. Let's take a different approach the 1967 Vette and the 67 911 and compare these two cars to the 85 versions, and 05 versions. One car look remarkably different one the same. |

Re: Spy Shots: ’06 Porsche 911 Cabriolet
Is that a bad thing?
If the 911 went away, and came back (a la Mini or Beetle), the current design would be applauded as "retro". The 911 doesn't look old despite being an evolution of an old design. What's wrong with NOT taking styling risks? I don't see Tyra Banks appearing on Extreme Makeover any time soon. If it works, don't change it.

Re: Spy Shots: ’06 Porsche 911 Cabriolet
Rex, all I'm saying is if I'm dropping $90K large, I want my car to be a little more distinctive than a 5 year old predecessor. Canuck, the Ferrari comparison is a great one. Ferrari is known to have great designs (there were a few bombs though) and Porsche is known to have one great design. Me, I'm just bitter that the Porsche diehards killed the 928 over an inferior car just because the 911 silhouette is an icon.
