Re: Spied: BMW X6 M

Hmmm...I'm not familiar with the performance characteristics of the X6, but it seems a little unecessary to produce an M version of a tall wagon (or whatever we're calling this). They don't even have an M7. Seems a bit like putting an SS badge on an Equinox; unless it's performance is outrageous, it will only dilute the M moniker, which does not seem like a mistake BMW would make. Anybody know the specs on it?

Nice, it's like a Pontiac Aztek, only decent looking. Get the rearview camera....this one is going to need it.

Re: Spied: BMW X6 M

This vehicle gives the term SUV a whole new meaning:

S Sport

U UGLY

V Vehicle

Or a "Sport-Utility" without the "Utility".

Honestly, I don't understand this vehicle. It looks like a AWD Prius in profile.

There are rumors of an X5 M, so an X6 M makes sense since they are on the same platform.

No idea what the engine would be -- probably the 5l V10 from the M5/M6 or the 6l V12 from the 760.

The X6 is already a great performer, an M version will be a monster.

Re: Spied: BMW X6 M

That has got to be the most ridiculous, unnecessary and ugly answer to a question that no one on this planet has asked. The regular X6 comes with a 400 hp engine. The speed limit in the U.S. is (at most) 70 mph. What is the point of this thing?

Re: Spied: BMW X6 M

The base engine is a 300 hp 3.0 twin turbo/6-AT.
0-60: 5.9 sec
0-100: 16.4 sec
1/4 mi: 14.6 @95 mph
top speed: 147 mph
70-0: 163 ft
skidpad: .88g
Car and Driver's observed fuel economy: 16 mpg

The 400 hp version hasn't been tested yet that I know of.

Re: Spied: BMW X6 M

So GM gets drilled for calling for more CUVs and BMW does this? It doesn't even look that good, especially from the back. I can't wait till the Bangle era ends.

The 400 hp version gets 13 mpg in the city (which is worse than a Hummer H3). And GM cannot give away Hummer.

Re: Spied: BMW X6 M

This thing is silly, but to be fair it is no worse than what is going on at M-B with the G55 AMG and ML63 AMG (not to mention all the hugely overweight, gas guzzling sedans and coupes AMG turns out). For some reason M-B seems to get a pass with this type of thing.

See... BMW knows how to maintain its image and performance.
Cadillac can't even get a decent, high-tech V8. Hell... DT7 is now 6 years out....

X6 isn't the most attractive car out there, but if X6 M uses the rumored 550HP Twin Turbo V8 that will be dropped into the M5... Then this thing can challenge the Cayenne Turbo and Range Rover Sport SC.

Poor Cadillac and it's FWD-based SRX...

Isn't the SRX based on the 1st-gen CTS platform? Or are you talking about the new one?

Re: Spied: BMW X6 M

Correct, Cadillac SRX is RWD. Or has an optional RWD biased AWD system.

Yes, I was thinking that too. BMW has 4.0l and 4.8l V8s, 5.0l V10 and 6.0l V12 engines currently on the market, and rumored to be getting twin-turbo V8 and V12. Cadillac can't justify a single exclusive V8? To be fair, this is looking like less of an issue now than it did when the demise of the Ultra V8 was initially announced.

And yes, with the DT7 rumors, it sounds like Cadillac can't even get their bread and butter products on the market -- far less attack niches the way MB and BMW are doing with vehicles like the X6.

Yes, the current SRX is RWD-based. I'm pretty sure he's talking about the FWD-based new one.
