Sold Out! Veyron-Gone for 06

Sold Out! The $1.2-Million Bugatti Veyron Is Gone for 2006

MOLSHEIM, France — The 1,001-hp Bugatti Veyron, which holds the distinction of world's fastest production car, has sold out its entire 2006 run of 50 vehicles at some $1.2 million each.

Bugatti president Tomas Bscher told the German publication Automobilwoche recently that the company has firm orders in hand for 70 Veyrons. In response, he says Bugatti is planning to increase production to 70 per year to cut the current 14-to-15-month waiting period for this last word in automotive luxury.

You'd better believe I'd be on that list if I had a spare one and a half mil laying around....I can always dream I guess..... But that's gotta be some encouraging news for Bugatti and VW. And good profits too.

Re: Sold Out! Veyron-Gone for 06

Darn, now I have to wait another 14 months to get mine!

I wonder if these things really are profitable for VW/Bugatti. They must have cost a fortune to develop, test, and build. They are loaded with technology and hand-built craftsmanship, and it's hard to imagine that a run of 50 or 200 or however many cars is going to really give them any economies of scale to actually offset some of the development and tooling costs. Hmmm...

They aren't profitable at all. They Veyron "Is VW's F1". Amazzzzing though- maybe they should charge two mill? I have a STRONG feeling they would still sell them all.

I would hate to be a builder, putting all my hard work into making one bugatti, then find out that this was one of the cars that they needed to crash test.

Oh...it's out? I had no clue. The Veyron launch has to be one of the worst in history. How many times was it held back? 2? 3? 4?

probably around 4 years.
First year it was some rediculous claim by the bugatti president or something (who then stepped down i think)
Second year was a non working prototype or, WAS a working prototype that was just to show they still working on it (oh it would never have reached any of the claims)
Third year was the tweaking period where they had to figure out stuff....
Fourth year was the busted launch that had the car break when tested.
Fifth year i think was when they got it right.

I'd get one if i had money lying around

Oh man would that suck. I couldn't watch. If they were just gonna go and crash it, I would have been glad to take even the wrecked one off their hands.

Re: Sold Out! Veyron-Gone for 06

Cien, all the way! Caddy needs to build cars like the Sixteen and Cien....they are great image builders, and they elevate the brand's status above the rest. Those cars will really help Caddy become the ''Standard of the World'' again.

Re: Sold Out! Veyron-Gone for 06

I believe the delays in the bugatti were based on the fact the 252 mph top speed tended to make the car take off..

They spent the time to make sure it was safe for consumers...

Now they need to create a 100 grand based Phaeton sedan...

Maybe 160 grand if they need it...to just rebody the Phaeton...

Give it bold styling and it'll sell...

Just like the Bently...which is based off Phaeton as well.
