Re: Separated at birth? Mercedes GLK and Subaru Forester
Its odd for us to see such Vehicles like that with a Mercedes badge in the states because we view Mercedes as purely a Luxury automaker while all over the world they produce and sell vehicles that are badged under the Mercedes name but are not luxury vehicles.

Re: Separated at birth? Mercedes GLK and Subaru Forester
Now, I love making comparaisons of cars, but I don't see it in this case. They are both white SUVs to me. The benz is much better looking and has some style, which the Skoobie seiously lacks. The Forester is much more Toyotaized, while the GLK looks like somebody actually cared how it looks (love it or hate it though).

Re: Separated at birth? Mercedes GLK and Subaru Forester
As a Mercedes fan, this car strikes me more as a mini GL with styling cues from two famous '80s Mercedes': the W201 (190 series) and W124 (E-Class). The dashboard in particular has W124 written all over it from a styling point of view.
Peter Pfeiffer, the current MB design boss, said in an interview that they looked at the GL and C-Class as well as "past Benzes" when they styled the GLK. In my opinion in doesn't look too bad. "Unique" is the word. |

Re: Separated at birth? Mercedes GLK and Subaru Forester
I know, this isn't really a knockoff of anything, but I still think Mercedes Benz could have done a better job. It looks rather annonymous(I know, most SUV's are like that), and too plain for a Mercedes. I am not sure if I am the only one who sees it like that but, that's what I think.

Re: Separated at birth? Mercedes GLK and Subaru Forester
Doesn't matter what the styling is, as long as it has the three-pointed-star, it'll sell well. Besides, it's not like the primary competition (X3, RDX) are good looking...

Re: Separated at birth? Mercedes GLK and Subaru Forester
Apparently not, as the R-Class hasn't been the sales success Mercedes was hoping for.
