Interesting, wernt Scirocco's avaliable here back in the 80's? I think I saw one in the local trader a while back. Dont know why they would sell it here, VW has pretty much all their bases covered here in the U.S., we have everything from Rabbit all the way up the ladder to the Passat. I dont think the Scirocco would fit in anywhere without overlap, and it would probably be on the GTI/Jetta, which are two pretty good selling cars.

That's why the U.S. isn't getting the Scirocco.

Apparently, VW thinks the Scirocco would internally compete with the GTI in the U.S., and that the Scirocco wouldn't sell enough to worth the trouble, especially with the currency situation.
