Official shots of BMW M3 sedan leaked

http://www.autoblog.com/2007/10/05/o...-sedan-leaked/

click above image to both pics of the BMW M3 sedan

var digg_url = 'http://digg.com/design/Official_shots_of_BMW_M3_sedan_leaked_PICS'; God bless forums, you have to love them. The occasional flame war aside (who are we to talk?), they're often the repository of choice material like this, what appears to be the first official images of the BMW M3 sedan scanned from a brochure. The main shot is large enough to appreciate how well the M3 style plays with the proportions of the 3-Series sedan, while the tiny pic gives us a profile comparison between the M3 coupe and sedan. What do you need to know about the M3 sedan that's different from the M3 coupe. Well, it's got two extra doors, but aside from that the same 420 HP V8 will be powering the rear wheels, which is all that's important to us. Any more details will have to wait until BMW officially takes the wraps off of its super sedan, which is expected to happen at an upcoming auto show, hopefully the L.A. Auto Show in mid-November.

Re: Official shots of BMW M3 sedan leaked

I like how they pulled the door handles along the crease in the doors. It's something that bugs me about a lot of cars today. You see one line for the door handles and a totally different one for the crease that's usually right underneath. Merge them, and it would look fine. BMW did that here.

I don't know about that bulge on the hood, though. It looks like something's trying to get out. Maybe it's just the angle.

Those lights should be on all the BMWs, and not the Dame Edna glasses look the 5 and 7 carry.

Pretty it ain't. I for one hate the BMW door crease. Too excessive.

Nice! What a huge improvement with the homely grille "eyelids" gone- I hope the whole 3-series sedan lineup gets this front treatment.

Something about it looks off to me.

Sure the front end may be better than the Sedan's, but the rest of the car doesnt fit the front end of the coupe.

considering the sedan and coupe shared no body panels whatsoever, it just doesnt look right when the coupe pieces get grafted onto the sedan.

I like the M3... I like it a lot.

The price on the other hand not so much.

For the cost of that you can buy a loaded "regular" Corvette....

I mean it isn't really anymore practical. Have you seen those tires?

The thing is, in the past (and especially with the E36) the M3 could compete with cars like the Vette and the 911 on their own terms...I remember when Car and Driver pronounced the E36 M3 to be the best-handling car in the world above 30K (price not a factor except that it must be more than 30K). Now the car has gotten too heavy and soft (the steering in particular has come in for almost universal criticism) so that it is difficult to justify the price except as a status symbol, especially since the 335i is so good.

100% agreed.

The BMW M3 has moved past its balanced and utilitarian blend of sport and luxury, and essentially become a superpowered technological tour-de-force that is simply too heavy and powerful to be nimble. All it is at this point is a status symbol for rich slick-haired Long Island 20-somethings and all those who aspire to be them.

A BMW 335i with a suspension tune is everything a true enthusiast needs, and for the maniacs, the 135i will be explosively fun and absurd at the same time. BMW building the 135i as a coupe and bringing it to the US has restored my faith in them almost singlehandedly.

Re: Official shots of BMW M3 sedan leaked

The new M3 sedans good looking. I like the flaired wheel wells and the coupe front end is much better looking than the previous sedan.

I'd personally prefer the 335ix with this new body style over the M series..

I think the M series is overrated..and consumers are being overcharged..

The 335 xi coupe and sedan are my personal choices with this new body style..

I like the pricing on the twin turbo versus the M series even if its slighly less hard core.

Re: Official shots of BMW M3 sedan leaked

I really wish they would fix the taillights(like the ones on the coupe)... they are just plain ugly and it ruins the whole look for me. Its like when you see a really hot girl at the bar. Really cute face, nice and toned, well proportioned, the works... but then she turns around and has no ass at all. Suddenly all the rest doesn't matter anymore. You just keep seeing that boney ass in your head.

maybe not the greatest analogy but you get the point lol

the 135i is still going to be to heavy imo. It's only ~88lbs lighter than a 335i. A 335i coupe looks better too. Looks, however, are subjective. If the 135i came at or around 3200 lbs i would be all over it.

------ EDIT

actually, my bad its more than that.

08’ 135iSpecs
Weight lb : 3438

07’ 335i Coupe
Weight lb : 3571

07’ 335i Sedan
Weight lb : 3616

So 133lbs over the coupe and 178 over the sedan. Still should be lighter i say... ~3200 or bust!
