Next GT3 gets Geneva reveal
http://www.cartoday.com/content/news...ge.asp?in=7809
Friday, 24 February 2006 ![]() Porsche’s previous GT3 has been described as an “exhilarating driver’s car” that provides “on-the-edge fun”, and these phrases that are likely to be repeated once Stuttgart’s latest sports coupé is unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show. The latest 911 GT3 uses Porsche’s 3,6-litre flat-twin engine that produces 305 kW at 7 600 r/min. The GT3 accelerates from zero-to-100 km/h in 4,3 seconds and has a top end of 310 km/h. The rev limiter kicks in at 8 400 r/min, 200 r/min more then the previous model, which according to Porsche makes it a fastest engine in its class. The Stuttgart manufacturer also claims that the car will reach 160 km/h from a standing start in a blistering 8,7 seconds. A revised six-speed gearbox, with a customary short throw and lower ratios for gears two to six, is matched to the naturally aspirated six-cylinder power unit. According to Porsche, its variable intake system with a throttle valve enlarged to 82 mm, optimised airflow rate, tweaked cylinder heads and an exhaust system with low back pressure further improve the GT3’s performance. Not to be outdone in the gimmicks department, the new GT3 adds a Change-up Display, which allows the rev-counter to light up before the relevant engine speed is attained and again at the best time to change gear. For the first time, the new GT3 also receives an active chassis in the form of Porsche’s Active Suspension Management (PASM). Two chassis’ in one, the basic configuration is similar to that of the previous model, while the system switches to harder damping - ideal for racetrack conditions - with sport mode engaged. Apart from the standard-issue 19-inch sports tyres, high traction levels are assured with a mechanical limited slip differential that forms part of the GT3’s Traction Package. In addition, the new electronic traction control (adapted from the Carrera GT’s system) features traction-slip and drag-torque control functions that can be completely switched off if required. Porsche’s quintessential sports coupé will... Continued:http://www.cartoday.com/content/news...ge.asp?in=7809

Re: Next GT3 gets Geneva reveal
The current GT3 is probably my favorite car at the time right now. This looks amazing. I really hated Porsches styling at first when they started putting round headlamps in them again, but I really have learned to love it.

Re: Next GT3 gets Geneva reveal
I don't like porsche's girly looks either. When I think of porsche, I think of stuck up yuppies that think they're better than every one and like paying a 25k+ premium when they could just buy a vette. It's definitely a girls/metrosexual kind of car relative to a Ferrari F430/Enzo etc. Ferrari's imo are men's car for people who want to go really fast and are enthusiasts, real men drive ferrari's as they are a car that real men drive, real men like Jerry Rice, Bill Parcels, Coach Bob Knight, Coach K, men that will be the best at what they do and kick your A$$ while doing it. Not that any of these men necessarily drive ferrari's but they embody the type of men I envision driving ferrari's.
